Rescue Me ID: 15-07-04-00266Marcel (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Marcel is the kind of pup who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his tiny head on your shoulder. He's so new and fresh with every possibility in life open to him . That's the case unless a puppy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Kansas rescuer in saving Marcel. This tiny baby was abandoned in rural Kansas without a hope in sight. After all, at only 8 - 10 weeks old and 3 or so lbs (expected to be about 8 lbs when full-grown), this puppy didn't have the skills to help himself. Our rescuer ... (Read More)was very clear that Marcel's temperament was so sweet and cuddly, she just couldn't allow him to be euthanized. After passing Farfel's temperament testing, Marcel was immediately brought to be vetted and was then welcomed by a great Kansas foster to receive pure love and begin his education. It turns out that Marcel is very calm and so very engaging that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. Marcel is cute as a button and so silly. He is very much like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If Marcel continues this regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Marcel will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Marcel is a gorgeous Maltese mix puppy with the cutest face ever! Although we can't see much of anything but Maltese in Marcel, we believe there's a bit of something else like Poodle in his DNA. Marcel has a shining, pure white coat that speaks of good health. His frequently calm yet often entertaining demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more in touch than your average puppy. If he is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Marcel will become a well-adjusted dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly Maltipoo. We also feel it's very important that Marcel is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with walks along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Marcel can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. Marcel will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. This fulfills our commitment to zero population growth until the shelters are empty. Marcel is a non-shedding puppy with the most beautiful hair ever. He will need lots of sudsy baths and grooming combined with great nutrition...this will keep this puppy's coat healthy, matt-free and silky-soft. Marcel will arrive on transport in Denver on 7/10/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-07-04-00092Zena (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue dog that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Zena. Her smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. This curious and really, really smart 2 - 3 year old (such a perfect age for the very long-living Doxie mix..old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind and young enough to have many, many active years left). This beautiful 10 lb or so Dachshund (appears to be a Doxy/Maltese mix) is a truly great companion as well as a lap dog extraordinaire. There aren't many visible signs (other than her initial shyness upon meeting new people) that Zena was in a very ... (Read More)scary situation...she and 7 others were the pets of a woman who meant well but found the world too difficult a place - she ended her life and left 8 dogs homeless. They were transferred to a high-kill rural OK shelter about to face euthanasia. Upon hearing of the plight of these beautiful dogs, our compassionate Oklahoma rescuers put their story out to the rescue community. Farfel's made the decision to help 6 of the 8 dogs (the other 2 were already adopted)...they're sweet, adorable and deserving of great lives! Zena's OK foster had the following to say about this very kind girl: Zena is a 2 - 3 year old, Dachshund/Maltese who came to us with 7 other dogs because they are in desperate need of new homes. This gorgeous girl is as sweet and social as a young dog can be but is taking a bit more time than her brother to settle in. It's not that the sensitive Zena is acting out in any way...she's just more timid than her gregarious brother Thor. She is always great with other dogs and cats...and even older children if they're loving and gentle with her. Once Zena develops trust, she is so happy to share kisses, love and promises to be your best friend in the world! Zena is a house trained sweetie-pie and is very clean about herself. She is very respectful of her home and others possessions. She is accustomed to being an inside-only girl. Zena (like virtually all dogs) can only withstand limited amounts of the extreme heat and humidity of an Oklahoma Summer. We picture Zena as the best friend to retirees. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. There's also no question that Zena would be the most popular girl on the block. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Zena is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's never pushy. Exercise..perhaps a walk in the sunshine to socialize with neighbors, and mental stimulation that comes from his time with her humans.. is important to this pup to keep her happy and well-behaved. Zena is such an easy girl to bring along. You can just scoop her up and she'll lie happily in your arms. Or grab a backpack for a hike...if the path is too long, Zena will snuggle down to enjoy the trail with a great view from above. Zena derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in a family that often stays at home..or chooses to bring along a sweet and kind fuzzy family member. Zena would shine in an office setting or in pretty much any situation where a sweet pup is accepted. She is a great dog who deserves this love and consistency in her life Thor's pre-transport foster had the following to say about this lovebug: Sweet and kind Zena would be perfect for a retired couple or individual. She is a little timid at first but once I sat quietly with her, spoke gently about how much I loved her and gave her tons of belly rubs..she couldn't stop wagging her tail...it was as if she was reborn! All Zena wants to make her happy is to sit or lie by my side (or on my lap) and follow me as I wander around the house (although, she does get tired of my wanderings and will lie down quietly in an available dog bed or couch). Zena is working on her leash skills and is learning like a champ. She only likes to potty outside - hooray! Zena is so respectful of my home and me that she would never consider having an accident or destroying anything in my house. She sleeps on her bed (or my bed occasionally) all night with no problems whatsoever. She's very careful to be quiet and never snores! Zena is such a sweet and kind girl! She just needs some love and attention. When she understands that she's well-loved and respected, her self-esteem will skyrocket and there won't be a better companion in the world! I just love her! This adorable and very loyal Doxie/Maltese is a non-shedding pup. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning caramel-colored coat cottony-soft, shining and matt-free. Zena will arrive on transport in Denver on 7/11/15. If interested in this sweet and very loving and devoted companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl St Boulder CO 80302. Farfel's made the decision to help 6 of the 8 dogs (the other 2 were already adopted)...they're sweet, adorable and deserving of great lives! Gabby's OK foster had the following to say about this very kind girl: Meet our incredibly sweet Gabby. She's a 6 - 7 year old female Maltese (or Maltipoo) who came to us with her 7 siblings because her human passed away and there was nobody to care for them. Gabby is a truly kind and sweet girl who, despite what she's been through, is full of the purest love and affection. Gabby is so great with other dogs and feline friends but would prefer not be around the loud voices and quick movements of young children as they make her quite nervous (although she would never take the path of aggression). Gabby is not meant to be an outside dog! She is strictly inside because the heat and humidity of Oklahoma summers takes a toll on her. She would love a life of being a best friend, lap dog and very loved family member. We picture Gabby as the best companion to retirees. Rescue Me ID: 15-07-01-00286Ravi-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Ravi's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and very elegant looking...once he's gets a sudsy bath and a thorough grooming) Ravi tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Poodle mix is..and the need to save his life. We agreed and Ravi became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great personality and kind and positive attitude toward the world. At just about 18 months old and 13 lbs, this very beautiful and often entertaining guy with ... (Read More)the great temperament is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best adult dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Ravi to a family that will spend lots of time with this appropriate and very portable pup. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. We definitely suggest positive reinforcement group obedience class (Ravi is so smart and wanting to please that he'll be the star of the class). This will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Ravi and his family. Ravi gets a ton of attention when he's out and about...we're stopped over and over by other walkers asking what kind of dog Ravi is because he's so cute and others loving on him because he's so engaging. It's true...Ravi is so sweet...and extremely eye-catching. When he turns that gentle look in your direction with those dark and very expressive eyes, you can't help but smile. You can see just a touch of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Ravi's style. It's clear that Ravi has left the pain behind...he so positive. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family (or with very gentle older kids) for Ravi ...it's not that he doesn't like young kids - we just feel he'll be more comfortable and settled with the more mellow adult environment. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this pup. He would thrive on the time and attention that he could share. Ravi would be is a loyal and positive pup which makes him very easy to spend time with enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Ravi would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who could be gentle playmates. When you're only 13 lbs, even a very well-adjusted puppy can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs. Ravi has a cotton-soft coat that never sheds and is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic of breed mixes. He must be periodically groomed and receive great nutrition to keep it healthy and matt-free. Ravi will arrive on transport in Boulder on 7/7/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-06-30-00288Hope (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What a sweet and kind MaltiPoo our Hope is! We're not sure what type of irresponsible situation Hope came from...but we do know that the Maltese/Poodle is a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, non-shedding cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. They're never given the benefit of heartworm preventative or medical care in these dismal living situations. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs with great temperaments and find them nurturing and committed homes. At ... (Read More)about 4 years old (such a great age for the long-living MaltiPoo...old enough to be past babyish behavior and young enough to have many, many active years left to be a best friend.) and 9 lbs, Hope is so portable to bring along to any dog-friendly location. We all know Hope has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Hope is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. She may be initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for her pending euthanasia date. When Hope was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring her to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once she senses that all present are her friends, Hope is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to sweet Hope for her kind attitude and playful ways. She is learning to play and enjoy life as a much-loved dog in her foster home. Hope seems to have a bit of leash experience as she's developing some further skills and seems to love the experience. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Hope needs a mellow, very nurturing home where she is an active and important member of the family. Hope has suffered the injustice of being heartworm+ (this so easily could have been prevented by a responsible guardian with an inexpensive monthly preventative) and losing partial vision in one eye that also could have been treated effectively with medication. Through it all, Hope's positive attitude and love of life shines through...she's not about to give up her joy due to a few challenges. We feel that Hope would love to be with a retired family who has the time to spend and where there's a more predictable environment. Hope would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day with her favorite people walking through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, she's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night. It is Hope's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Hope has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves either several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog or a slow kill method that takes a year to complete. We have found both protocol to be successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Hope as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay all vet bills (at our Denver vet only) and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free. We are also happy to treat Hope's eye to make sure she's as comfortable and well-cared as is possible. Hope is a non-shedding girl and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic mixes available. She has a gorgeous coat and once it loses the matts and dirt of the shelter and has the benefit of great nutrition...it will become the cottony-soft and silky hair of her breed mixes. Hope will always require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of Salmon Oil will help) to keep her hair healthy and matt-free. Hope will arrive on transport in Boulder on 7/7/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) wandering the streets of Texas..so cold and skinny. A compassionate passer-by took Pongo in and slowly nursed him back to health...she came to also love him and care about his welfare. Farfel's Rescue was contacted about this wonderful Schnoodle...our TX rescuer met Pongo and came to fall in love with this awesome guy who just naturally puts happy feelings into the world. Farfel's responded and made arrangement to transport Pongo to Colorado and a family that would love and commit to this sweet guy in a forever kind of way. Farfel's Rescue agreed ... (Read More)that Pongo deserves only the best after so many challenges in his approximately 18 - 24 month long life and has agreed to participate in his rehoming. The following is a description of Pongo by his foster mom: Pongo can initially be a bit shy but is so happy to meet new people, he quiets down very quickly . He talks to me in the morning if he thinks I've forgotten him and his breakfast (so excited to start his day)!. Pongo loves to run and play outside...he has quite a bit of morning energy and would do well with a family who is home alot to hike, play and run freely in a safely-fenced area. -Pongo loves that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, he's ready to chill on the couch. He loves to snuggle, be petted and doesn't mind grooming. His fine and cotton-like hair will require combing...a periodic grooming and excellent nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful as it can be. Pongo doesn't appear to shed at all! Pongo has been fine with all dogs that he's come into contact with. Pongo has also been great with my 10 and 12 year old boys and me!! I haven't seen him around smaller kids. so that's an unknown. He's fine with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for a very elderly senior. Pongo is a Schnoodle, approximately 1.5- 2 yrs old and 20 lbs in weight. Pongo is a truly smart boy - true to his breeds!! He's adjusted to the crate at night, is almost completely housetrained and has learned SIT. He's very responsive to 'no' and is learning 'up' to get in the car. What a gem of a dog for an active family who wants to include Pongo in their life. He's not particularly happy when left alone for long hours...but with love and consistency, Pongo will learn that his people will return and never abandon him. A playful canine friend could also be very fun for sweet Pongo. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special guy his forever family. Applications are currently being accepted for adorable Pongo.     Hi, can I sit in your lap? My name is Prince and I love snuggling and going for walks. I'm a miniature poodle, and I'm very comfortable around dogs and people. I get super excited and jump around when it's time for a walk, but I also love to relax on the couch right next to you. I understand what 'no' means and try to do my best. I love my crate and I am mostly housetrained, but need some practice to get used to new places. I am not sure why my owner surrendered me but I can't wait to find my new family that will love me as much as I love them. Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption ... (Read More)fees also allow us to continue saving animals.
