Rescue Me ID: 16-02-09-00027Mesa (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Mesa's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. Mesa also (like many, many Texas dogs) suffers from flea allergies. This is caused by fleas, but made worse by stress and dirty conditions. This condition will readily clear up when Mesa is safely in a flea-free home with great nutrition and a clean environment. After a scramble by our very compassionate Texas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a ... (Read More)really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Mesa was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Mesa's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Mesa at 9 - 12 months old and 26 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Mesa with active retirees or a dog-loving family who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy He would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Mesa than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Mesa can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. Mesa would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Mesa is in a foster home in Texas being reminded of his basic house skills. His foster family has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Mesa may need a bit of time after his long transport to Boulder, to be his happy and very loving self. Mesa is a beautiful combination of two non-shedding breeds. As is evident in his photos, Mesa is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and grooming. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Mesa's makeover if our Denver groomer is used. Mesa will emerge with an amazing white/fawn coat that over time will speak of cottony softness and good health. Mesa will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and matt-free. Mesa will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/12/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00859Zeus (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Zeus is a 2 year old, 16lb terrier/Lhasa Apso mix. Zeus was surrendered to a Texas shelter with 8 other dogs. They were all in horrible condition. almost none of them had any hair and they were all terrified and so clearly neglected. We quickly got them all out of the shelter and to the vet where they tested positive for sarcoptic mange. Luckily sarcops is very treatable, so we knew it would only be a little before they were on their way to being happy, healthy little pups. It has now been over a month since they were treated and put into wonderful foster homes and they are finally ready to find their forever homes. Some pups are ... (Read More)doing better emotionally than other after everything they had been through, and luckily Zeus is one of the dogs who is doing very well! He is learning how much fun playing is and loves to run around the house and play with the fosters other dogs. He is only 2 years old and is finally getting to stretch his legs and act like the puppy he was never able to act like before. The foster named him Zeus because he is a strong survivor. He is just so sweet and is learning how to be loved. He now asks for pets and loves to be snuggled. The foster says he is like a little teddy bearIt's surprising how dogs can trust so quickly, even after being neglected and mistreated for so long. They truly have unconditional love. Zeus seems to be pretty much potty trained and knows to go outside. He will still need a little work most likely, but he is so smart and the foster said each day he is more potty trained and has now had no accidents in the past couple days. Zeus is now starting look for his forever home and really deserves to understand what unconditional love feels like that he gives to everybody. Zeus will make such a great companion. He does very well with other dogs, cats, and kids. He is just a gentle, sweet guy. He is the perfect size for going on walks, but also being a lap dog. We believe that Zeus would do well in any home environment unless it is super overwhelming all the time.     Black toy poodle that will keep your lap warm. He is very loving and house broken. We are moving and cannot take him with. He weighs less than ten pounds and is used to being at home alone for up to 9 hours. Lucky is about 8 years old, has never been around cats and would probably prefer to be the only pet in the house or with pets that are smaller and have less energy than him. We also have a 4 pound teacup poodle named Harlee. Harlee is brown, about 3 years old and is spayed. Lucky and Harlee have been together for the last 3 years and get along great. We would like it if they could stay together.

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-03-00031Wailea-FOSTER OR ADOPT (female)

Poodle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Wailea is a 2YO 12lb poodle. We believe she is a pure-bread but we cannot be 100% sure. Wailea was dumped at a shelter in Texas with 7 other poodles by someone who had severely neglected these dogs. She requested that they be euthanized right away, and left without a second thought. Our rescue knew that they young and beautiful babies did not need to be euthanized, they just needed medical attention that they had never received before and some TLC. All the dogs were diagnosed with mange and treated for over a month. They are all testing negative now and are healthy little babies! They may not have all their hair back yet because ... (Read More)hair does not grow back over night, but they have made such progress and we know it is going to continue. Pretty soon they will all have their full, beautiful coats back. We are looking for foster or foster to adopt situations for these pups because they have been neglected and have some emotional hurtled to get over. They are all incredibly sweet and would never hurt a fly, but are very timid and need lots of gentle reassurance and patience. We want to make sure that potential adopters have the patience to partake in this rewarding journey and fostering is a good way to make sure you are 100% ready. Here is what Wailea's Texas foster says about her: "right when I brought her home she was wanting to rush things along and meet Kirby and Sunday my dogs. She did great with them and gets along very well with dogs. She slept in a crate for the first 3 or 4 nights and she was crated during the day when I was away from home. She is not a chewer and didn't seem to have any bad bathroom habits. It took her about 3 days to learn to watch and chase the squirrels during the day and the night time creatures that run the top of the wood fence. It was cute to watch her as my two rushed past her----woosh----and her with no clue what was going on. The doggy door was a little more of a challenge. It wasn't until this past weekend that she learned to come and go through it. I haven't noticed any pee puddles in the house since then, however, she doesn't seem to have figured out that she needs to go outside to poop. If she is outside when the urge hits, she will go in the grass but even with patio door open she will poop on the floor. I have puppy pads down and move them a little closer to the door each day. And yes, she sleeps on the bed with us. She is a very sound sleeper. When I call them to go out before we go to bed I almost have to shake her to wake her. She is still somewhat skittish, even with me. When I come in she meets me at the door with my two dogs , but backs away. I have taught her to dance for treats and it is so darling to watch" Wailea has never experienced the unconditional love of a forever family and really deserves it. Once she learns to trust and knows humans are awesome and gentle she will be the perfect companion! Rescue Me ID: 16-01-26-00006Benji-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Benji. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Benji's foster know it's morning when Benji's little head comes under the blanket...getting closer and closer..and then a kiss of love. This curious and really, really smart 18 - 24 month old, 11 lb Cairn Terrier/Poodle mix is a truly great companion as well as a lap dog extraordinaire. There aren't many visible signs (other than his initial shyness upon meeting new people) that Benji was in a very scary high-kill shelter just about to face euthanasia. He can ... (Read More)hang back or be a touch afraid in certain situations..but a warm hug and reassuring words..and Benji bounces back and cuddles just a bit closer. We picture Benji as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will. There's also no question that Benji would be the most popular guy on the block. Once comfortable, he loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Benji is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's never pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps a walk in the sunshine to socialize with neighbors, and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans or a gentle canine friend is important to this guy to keep him happy and properly stimulated. Benji is such an easy guy to bring along. You can just scoop him up and he'll lie happily in your arms. Or grab a backpack and Benji will hike on his own for quite a ways and then snuggle down in his pack for a long hike with a great view from above. Benji derives so much joy from his relationships, we would love to see him in a family that often stays at home..or chooses to bring along a sweet and kind fuzzy family member. Benji would shine in an office setting or in pretty much any situation where a sweet pup is accepted. Benji is a great dog who deserves this love and consistency in his life. Benji's Texas foster mom had the following to say about lovebug Benji: Sweet and kind Benji would be perfect for retirees or a younger family that's home a lot. He is a little timid at first but once I sat quietly with him, spoke gently about how much I loved him and gave him tons of belly rubs..he couldn't stop wagging his tail. It reminded me of a helicopter! All Benji wants to make him happy is to sit or lie by my side (or on my lap) and follow me as I wander around the house (although, he does get tired of my wanderings and will lie down quietly in an available dog bed or couch). Benji is learning to walk on a leash like a champ...he tries so hard to please! Benji sleeps on his bed (or my bed occasionally) in my room all night with no problems whatsoever. He's very careful to be quiet and never snores! Benji is such a sweet and kind boy! He just needs some love and attention. When he understands that he's well-loved and respected, his self-esteem will skyrocket and there won't be a better companion in the world! This adorable and very, very loyal Cairn/Poodle mix is either a non-shedding or very lightly shedding guy (difficult to say for certain with his sad shelter coat. Once he gets consistent great nutrition and grooming, we don't anticipate Benji to be a shedder). Benji will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning white hair cottony-soft and matt-free. Benji will arrive on transport in Boulder on 1/29/16. If interested in this sweet and very fun and devoted companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.     There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Fauna, at only 16 weeks old and 7.6 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 - 14 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Fauna just in time to save her life. This sweet and engaging Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her ... (Read More)temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Fauna is also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and black running through her non-shedding coat that have come out since she started receiving great nutrition. Fauna was scheduled for euthanasia due to flea dermatitis. This is a skin condition (caused by fleas, dirt, poor nutrition and stress) that causes the puppy to lose some of their hair and develop a rash in that spot that is unbearably itchy! This is easily cured with placement in a clean, flea-free home, a diet with great nutrition and periodic soothing baths. We're often very surprised when we see one of our Dermatitis dogs just a few weeks after their adoption...their coats are quickly growing in with that cottony look of good health! Fauna is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Schnauzer/Poodle mix. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Fauna is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. She will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy socialization class followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Fauna finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and truly enjoy a young puppy. Fauna is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a family with older, dog-crazy kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. Fauna will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like Fauna is often deemed too young to spay. If this is the case, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Fauna to be fixed at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth. Fauna will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 2/12/16.... Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When Aiden's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Aiden tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Maltipoo is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Aiden became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 2.5 - 3 years old and 11 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best ... (Read More)dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Aiden to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Aiden and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Aiden gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a Maltese/Poodle.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Aiden turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Aiden's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family for Aiden. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Aiden is more comfortable and braver around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Once bonded, Aiden will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Aiden would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 11 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. . Aiden is an extremely beautiful dog (but you would never know that in his sad shelter photo). We are waiting for new photos of Aiden at his Texas foster home. He's so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Aiden is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Aiden's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Aiden will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Aiden will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/29/16. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly lap-dog, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 16-01-21-00516Stuart (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Standard Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) wandering the streets of Texas..so cold and skinny. A compassionate passer-by took Stuart in and slowly nursed him back to health...she came to also love him and care about his welfare. We're positive that she had no idea that she was bringing him to a high-kill shelter when she dropped him off thinking he'd get a great new home. Farfel's Rescue was contacted about this wonderful Schnoodle who was nearing euthanasia...our TX rescuer met Stuart and came to fall in love with this awesome guy who just naturally puts happy feelings into the ... (Read More)world. Farfel's responded and will be transporting Stuart to Colorado and a new life. Farfel's Rescue agrees that Stuart deserves only the best after the challenges in his young life and has agreed to participate in his rehoming. Wonderful Stuart is one of the sweetest Schnoodle around...and the very popular Schnauzer/Poodle mix is acknowledged to be one of the top mixes as a family pet. They have cotton-soft, non-shedding coats with gorgeous gold, silver and white coloring. They're also widely known for their great temperaments and devoted natures. The following is a description of Stuart by his Boulder foster mom: Stuart is an awesome, affectionate, energetic young dog. He looks small in photos but is actually a sturdy, strong 50lb dog that needs a lot of exercise to help channel his energy. Stuart has a lot of great qualities: He is friendly towards people and dogs, does not shed, does well in his crate, and is house-trained. He's done well at doggy daycare playing with other energetic dogs, and loves to play tug and cuddle with people. Because Stuart is so strong, energetic, and playful, he needs lots of exercise and guidance. He has a strong prey drive and is boisterous when playing, so definitely should not live with cats and would not be a good fit with small children or fragile/shy dogs. Stuart needs more training to help with a few problem areas like wanting to herd cars and leash pulling. He responds very well to calm, firm redirection and positive reinforcement. Stuart will be a wonderful, loyal companion for someone who wants to share an active lifestyle, and give him plenty of affection and attention. This boy is amazingly beautiful, with a silky brindle and white coat and the most expressive eyes. He is intelligent, confident and very sweet. Stuart has been neutered and is already crate trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is very happy to see his family in the morning! Stuart is still a puppy - perhaps a year old -- and he loves to play. His energy level is high so he would do best with an active family that likes to hike or run on the trails. He LOVES his food and seems to be thriving. He also loves to play with his strong fuzzy toys! I wouldn't be telling the whole story if I didn't add that Stuart is great in the car (so wonderful that he can go anywhere and be a great companion). And he's equally great at the groomer's. Stuart was patient and sweet as he was groomed and (of course) was loved by all. Whichever family is lucky enough to be a match for this great dog is getting a true best friend. Farfel's has made the decision that we have to use care when matching Stuart to a home with a doggy sibling. He loves other dogs that share his fun-loving and energetic ways. He could play for hours in a positive way with complete abandon... and be happy and stimulated. Stuart wouldn't be a match for a submissive orsubmit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. small canine friend. He would overwhelm without meaning to. Stuart weighs 53 lbs (he's full-grown) and is 9 - 12 months old...a great age for a Schnoodle - old enough to have a bit of wisdom and to be easily taught house skills... and young enough to have tons of energy to participate with all his heart in all activities of life. Schnoodles, as a mix, tend to live very long and healthy lives. To be a great lifelong companion that is happily accepted in all dog-friendly locations, we feel that Stuart should attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes. This is great for both Stuart and all family members that participate. It results in a very bonded relationship and a well-behaved best friend. Stuart is a truly smart boy and if shown the way, always wants to please. He's very responsive to 'no' and is learning all kinds of new skills. What a gem of a dog Stuart would be for a family with kids 12+ or young and active retirees who would like to be involved in traactive retirees who would like to be involved in training and watching Stuart blossom! He's perfect for anyone who seeks a full-time pal who can accompany them everywhere and be a pleasure. Stuart is in foster care in the Denver area. If interested in setting up a Meet and Greet with this sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Thank you. Hi! My name is Crimson because I am a beautiful almost red but really apricot Poodle. Lke most Poodles, I am very smart. When I got to my foster moms house my eyes were so worried. I didn't know what to expect but the first thing she did was take me to get my hair done. I know my former owner didn't care what I looked like as long as I gave him lots of puppies. I am so proud of how I look now. My eyes are bright and ... (Read More)not worried anymore and I have a really big soft bed. I love to lay in my foster mom's lap. I found out that no one was going to hurt my neck anymore and I let her massage me all over and it feels so good. I am looking for my permanent mom or dad to keep me from ever having worried eyes again. I do need a stay at home parent and no children who would scare me. I weigh 7 pounds and I am 8 years young.Thank you and please ask for me. Love, Crimson 010316-34 (Less)

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Koda is a fluffy, cuddly, adorably wonderful 4-5 month old pup. He sustained an injury to his tail as a baby that has left him in need of bladder expressions and unable to hold his poop in. He is a great candidate for diapers and suspenders! He loves everyone and everything he meets. He needs a home where he can run and play and be loved for who he is. He will not grow out of this condition. We've amputated his tail to help keep his bum clean. He's truly such a wonderful guy!

What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and hungry...especially when you only weigh 8 lbs. Zen, a very beautiful 18 - 24 month old Cairn Terrier/Poodle mix (this shelter photo absolutely doesn't do this cutie-pie justice..we'll update just as soon as we get a new photo) found herself in this situation through no fault of her own. Her plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the level of care that a human bestowed on this harmless dog. Zen was the luckiest girl around that day...she was discovered and rescued by wonderful shelter personnel who felt compassion when they realized how ... (Read More)sweet and vulnerable Zen was. She was a matted mess on the outside..but nothing but pure and grateful devotion on the inside! Zen's foster brought her home and dedicated herself to caring for her...and reassuring her abandoned psyche that she was safe. After many efforts to find Zen's original family...the decision was made that she deserved a new life in Colorado. Zen would love leisurely walks in the sunshine...she is overjoyed being outside and is capable of being a devoted companion around the neighborhood. Zen is definitely searching for a human friend that she can devote her heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this little dog has to offer. She's a steadfast companion that takes her relationships seriously. We're searching for an adult home for Zen...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy best friend would be perfect! It's not that Zen dislikes kids..we just feel she'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult home. Zen has gotten along well with most other dogs...she's definitely a little pup with a big personality! We feel Zen could be happy as the one and only as well. She will blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this environment, Zen will glow with joy at her incredible luck. She loves to please...and when she's successful, she struts her stuff with high self-esteem. We've requested that Zen be groomed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover the costs for a spa day at our Denver groomer's salon. DJ appears to be a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Zen has been completely vetted...at that time it was found that she has a cherry eye. This is a condition where a dog will develop a small red mass in the lower part of the eye. It doesn't interfere with vision but is extremely uncomfortable for the dog. This is easily corrected with no long-term challenges...Farfel's is happy to cover costs for the procedure to correct this if our Denver vet is used. Zen will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/8/16 . Applications can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very sweet and endearing companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
