Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00151Chai (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet and beautiful Chai couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Chai is a 12 - 18 month old Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Schnoodles have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) coats and easygoing personalities Farfel's rescues almost every Schnoodle that is in need of our help with confidence they will have great personalities and be loyal and loving family members. Chai has all these wonderful traits and was described by her Texas ... (Read More)foster mom as PERFECT! Chai has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound'|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all'|Chai doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Chai is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slate'|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Chai and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Chai be a companion that is well-behaved (she's pretty close right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Chai tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Chai gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches. Chai loves to come along (and is very portable at 15 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a hike on a Colorado trail, a vacation or just socializing'|Chai would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance to fit in just about anywhere. At home, Chai would be fine with sharing her family with other dogs. As long as they're gentle...Chai can enjoy them. We envision Chai in a home that will provide her with exercise and stimulation'|other dogs help that with play and backyard fun. She wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone'|Chai is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Chai would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Chai will be arriving on transport in Denver on 2/27/15. If interested in this very sweet girl who is truly an exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-21-00151Duchess (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Long-haired Dachshund/Poodle mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog with that additional flair. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great personalities and extremely loving and snuggly ways. This mix is also known to love being a part of a family...so great with their beloved people and other family pets. And since they require a certain amount of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Duchess would truly enjoy cruising the neighborhood paths and trails...and then crashing on the couch ... (Read More)snuggling close to her favorite humans and canines. Duchess is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl (so sorry about the awful shelter photo. We've requested a new one to show how truly beautiful this sweet girl is) Duchess appears to be a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free. As she loses the old hair of her shelter days, Duchess's coat will grow in cottony-soft and less likely to shed. Duchess's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Duchess is social and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Duchess's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Duchess goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Duchess is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Doxy and Poodle breeds. At about 1.5 - 2 years old and 14 lbs, Duchess seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Duchess has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Duchess in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very pleasant and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Duchess would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable..and often comical.. young girl . Duchess doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Duchess will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 2/27/15. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-20-00152Bojangles & Pepe (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The story of Bojangles and Pepe is becoming all too common in today's world. They were the beloved companions of a woman who passed away and left no arrangements for her bonded Poodle pair. She had them since they were babies and the only option appeared to be for the pair to be transferred to a high-kill shelter. Bojangles is a beautiful (These photos don't come close to doing either of these these amazing guys justice) white Toy Poodle weighing only 7 lbs and just about 4.5 years old. Pepe is a Miniature Poodle weighing 15 lbs and approximately 5.5 years old. These are such perfect ages for any small dog...young enough to be active for ... (Read More)many, many years and old enough for great behavior and wisdom. As their guardian slipped further into her illness, these pups were recognized for their sweet personalities and just about perfect behavior. Our Dallas rescuer was ultimately contacted in hopes of helping Bojangles and Pepe find a forever family where they would be properly cared for and truly loved. The relatives hoped that the pups would not have to go to a shelter...we couldn't have agreed more! Sad goodbyes were said and the boys were on their way to be vetted, temperament tested and to a foster home to be loved and given lots of belly rubs. It turns out that the boys are completely housetrained with the kind of great temperaments that would be perfect with adults, gentle children, dogs and cats...just perfect family companions! Their socialization started immediately as they were introduced to their foster family of two kids 10 and 14, 3 smaller dogs and a friendly kitty... and they did great. The fact that was immediately obvious is that Bo and Pepe are bonded! Their relationship is very soothing to them when they're together....when not together, they were engaging and friendly but you could see them looking off just a bit for the other. We made the immediate decision that as a bonded pair, we need to honor the power of their relationship. We're searching for a very loving and gentle family...it seems that retirees or a dog-crazy family who are home a great deal would be perfect for these 2. If given the time and opportunity...Bo and Pepe would be the most devoted duo anyone could imagine. They would be overjoyed with long walks with their favorite people as they greet the other walkers. Since they only weigh 7 and 15 lbs, they're so portable that you can scoop them up into the car for a fun adventure or they'd fit perfectly under a plane seat for a visit to a dog-loving friend or relative. You can always count on them to have great behavior! Once Bo and Pepe find their forever family, these two will have their dreams come true. They can recall a time when love was plentiful and belly rubs were the order of the day....we want that life for them again. We know that any family who is searching for lap dogs who will return their love a million times over will fall in love with our awesome Bojangles and Pepe. They are truly a case of two is easier than one. They're always ready to cuddle..but when life calls for their people..Bo and Pepe are very capable of keeping each other busy and happy. These are non-shedding pups..and considered to be the most hypoallergenic breed available. They will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep their coats cotton-soft, healthy and matt-free. If Bo and Pepe aren't groomed before their arrival in CO, Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost of a spa day at our Denver groomer. Bojangles and Pepe will be arriving on transport in Boulder between 2/20 and 3/1. If interested in this snuggly and sweet pair, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-02-00012Ansel (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ansel is a great example of why people love the Standard Schnauzer/Standard Poodle mix.. He's a gorgeous silver-coated guy with golden eyes and cottony-soft hair that frames his sweet face. At 3.5 - 4 years old (such a great age being young enough to have many, many active years ahead and old enough to be beyond puppyish or destructive behavior) and 55 lbs, Ansel is an extremely loyal and loving guy who bonds hard with those that establish themselves as his leaders. Ansel had a tough start in life and ended up at a very high-kill shelter in Devore, CA. This exceptionally beautiful dog had a spirit about him that caught the attention of a ... (Read More)California rescuer. She felt that he was a natural companion for a very active Coloradoan...he would be overjoyed to hike the mountains or take an early morning run. Once his need for energy and mental stimulation is satisfied, Ansel can happily cuddle up next to his person. Ansel made his way to CO, found a great family and has spent 3 very happy years in a home with several other dogs. He successfully completed positive reinforcement obedience level 1 classes and even accompanied his family on yearly vacations to dog-friendly beaches on both coasts. There was no happier dog alive than Ansel as he ran freely along the beach with his canine-friends, periodically jumping into the the ocean waves. But then there was a change for Ansel...his family had to start working longer and longer hours to make ends meet. And while he had access through doggie doors to several fenced mountain acres to run with 2 much older dog siblings, Ansel longed for his humans. He appeared to be growing more frustrated because he had thrived on the mental stimulation and exercise regimen that had once been his. He had been able to count on the long hikes with his people on remote paths along the Switzerland Trail in Boulder County.. It was perfect for this super-smart and very loyal companion - but now impossible. The message resonated loud and clear...Ansel has to be rehomed (for his happiness and need for human companionship.. much to the deep sadness of his family). The decision has been made that Ansel would be at his best as an only dog. He can get frustrated with other canines who may not have the same play drive and joy for living life to its fullest. As a single dog, Ansel can keep himself busy with bones, sticks and pursuit of squirrels...he loves the challenge! He is considered to be a non-vocal dog and almost never barks other than in times of great fun or excitement. Ansel can be relied on to share nothing but love and good behavior with his humans. We feel Ansel's energetic spirit at this youthful point in his life wouldn't be a good choice for small children. He wouldn't mean to, but could knock them over in his enthusiasm with life. Ansel is a wonderful and exceptionally devoted best friend who wants nothing more than to share time, play and learning new skills with a very kind and committed family. There's no question that a long workday for his family won't work for Ansel. He thrives on family-time and wants desperately to please... clear and very consistent boundaries mixed with love and nurturing are mandatory for Ansel to fulfill his potential as a bonded companion. We are also asking that Ansel's new family attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Since the Standard Schnoodle is an extremely intelligent mix with amazing potential in training classes, we feel that this clear but kind guidance will bring out the amazing potential that lives inside of this stunning dog. Ansel's natural love of people drives him to please if there is time- spent. This will be a healthy mixture of discipline and pure love with lots of together time for fun and cuddling. We envision Ansel with either very active and dog-savvy retirees (a morning run or some winter snowshoeing would fit the bill) or an individual who works from home...taking breaks to love Ansel up and provide him with a midday walk or hike. He would be overjoyed to be a foot-warmer or a couch companion on a lazy day. He also thrives on having access to a safe fenced area to play in and enjoy the Colorado sunshine. While Ansel gets along very well with almost all dogs, when he gets over-stimulated or in need of exercise, he's overwhelming with certain weaker canines. It's for this reason again, that we feel so strongly about group classes for Ansel. Ansel is being fostered in Boulder, CO. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely devoted and very fun and active companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-20-00814Lola (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Lola, at only 9 months old and about 35 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 50 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Lola just in time. This sweet and engaging Labradoodle (identified by the shelter and Texas vets as a Doodle..we're never sure if there isn't a bit of Terrier in ... (Read More)there. Whatever the mix..Lola is the cutest!) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Lola is an incredibly beautiful girl...with the gorgeous streaks of whitest white interwoven with the shinin . g chocolate and gold through the waves of Lola's amazing coat. Lola is in need of a spa day. If she doesn't receive this in Texas, Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost of grooming at our Denver groomer. If she does get cleaned- up in Texas, we'll post a photo of the shiny and gorgeous Lola just as soon as we get it. Lola is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She'll be perfect for hiking the Colorado mountains..it will bring her the greatest joy! She's so smart...very typical of her cross. The one thing that's clear is that she's an amazing lovebug (would love to be a lap dog if possible). She's bright, happy and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Lola is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - she'll form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through a positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Lola finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young pup. Lola is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids 10+ that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training protocol. Lola will be up to date on her vetting and has been spayed. This fulfills our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced dogs. Lola's fixing prior to adoption is in line with our commitment to being a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Lola is a stunning combination of a shedding and a non-shedding breed but already has the curlier coat of the Poodle which indicates a non-shedding or very lightly shedding dog. We don't feel, however, that we can guarantee her suitability for an individual with truly severe allergy challenges. Lola is currently being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-20-00804Bernard (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Bernard is one of those guys that got caught in an overcrowded and dreary high-kill shelter through no fault of his own. It's so difficult for any particular dog to stand out and get the acknowledgement for a great temperament (and being so very handsome with a shining black and silver coat and bright blue eyes.) - and therefore get spared from euthanasia. As you might imagine...Bernard must have been SO very special. He was recognized for the exceptional dog he is and efforts were put forth to insure his safety and ultimate adoption...he would be a dream come true for anyone who enjoys the dignified personality of the Shih Tzu combined ... (Read More)with the very intelligent and playful personality of the Poodle. Bernard's foster mom had the following to say about this gorgeous guy: Bernard is a calm yet playful guy who really doesn't have a single negative trait! He's a lovebug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's perfect in the house and has been trustworthy in every situation. He's absolutely great with me, my husband, our 3 kids (from 6 - 15 years old) and our 2 dogs. Bernard is, hands down, just about the most perfect and loving dog I've ever fostered. His lucky new family is getting a true gem! Farfel's Rescue was contacted to help find this wonderful guy the greatest home possible..he deserves the love and respect of a forever family. Bernard is an exceptional doll baby (words of his foster mom) that is 4 - 4.5 years old and 20 lbs. He's such a great age...old enough to be beyond the puppyish behavior that can be so challenging yet young enough to have many, many active years ahead. Also, at 20 lbs..Bernard is the perfect size to walk (or hike) the Colorado mountains. We envision this super-loving pup either in an adult household who choose to spend lots of time with a fuzzy best friend. Or Bernard would be overjoyed with the company of gentle kids and dogs. He would be so excited with the playtime and then at day's end, would be the greatest snuggler ever. Bernard is so good-natured and respectful that he would be a great companion to be out and about with. Bernard has been in a foster home in Texas while waiting for his transport to Denver (his great behavior and sweet nature earned him this ticket). He has been working on his home and socialization skills and we're so proud of his progress. Bernard is a non-shedding guy who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat (with the most beautiful silver-streaks on charcoal black) healthy and cottony-soft. Bernard will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/23/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Poodles have been used as circus performers. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
