Rescue Me ID: 14-09-20-00210Shiloh (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Shiloh is so sweet in temperament, yet very frightened...and who wouldn't be when he was found wandering the streets of Houston and thrown into a high-kill shelter. This would be a scary challenge for any dog...but Shiloh is believed to be blind. We will be checking his eyes to determine if he has any vision and if we can help him through surgery. It is our pleasure to rescue this special guy! After rescue, Shiloh was brought to be temperament tested. He passed with flying colors with the acknowledgement that he needs a special home that understands that a visually challenged dog can be the greatest lover of all! Shiloh is blossoming ... (Read More)with his Texas foster family. He loves every second while he successfully learns the layout of their house. His foster describes him as on his way to being just a normal and sweet dog. The following is the latest foster report on our wonderful Shiloh -- I have had a great time enjoying the positive energy of this gorgeous dog! He's just 6 - 9 months old with lots of wisdom in that 13 lb body. He has quickly become my walking partner...he absolutely loves it as we venture forth just a bit further on each walk. We work on new things that come up that Shiloh hears but can't see. He was painfully shy and traumatized when he arrived but is in heaven with our loving, belly rubs and guidance in negotiating the world. One of the best parts about being out and about with Shiloh is to witness his bravery...the more he trusts me and my family, the braver he is. I'm to the point where I sometimes forget that Brice is visually impaired. He behaves just like all my other dogs, particularly at home. I find myself just gently guiding him with my voice and light touches and that seems to work just fine. I also use my hand as a guide to what I'm asking of him. My voice and intonation is very important in Shiloh understanding my request. I think I'm just a bit more attached to Shiloh than the other foster dogs...most likely his vision challenges play a role, but really he's just an absolutely incredible companion for my entire family (me, husband, kids & dogs). When everyone is home at the end of the day...Shiloh is Snuggler #1! He's so happy to lie quietly at our feet or better yet..tucked between the humans on the couch. He'll never be a watchdog... but he's not meant to be that anyway - he's meant to be a full-time lover with a family who enjoys his calm and very loyal demeanor. We're all so excited that Shiloh is headed to Colorado..his joy at walking the trails with all the wonderful mountain smells will know no bounds! The family who is lucky enough to have Shiloh join their family forever is truly getting a gem. I've learned so much from professionals on how to best work with a blind dog and will be thrilled to foster any others that come along..they're very special! I feel like I can say with honesty that with love and patience, there are few better than Shiloh!-- Shiloh is a non-shedding guy with cotton-soft hair...sorry about the filthy, matted shelter photo...we'll update just as soon as Shiloh gets bathed and groomed. He will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free. Shiloh will be transported to Denver on 9/26. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-20-00161Brice (male)

Poodle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oh...the joy that is bursting forth from Brice in every way. He's free (and so excited) from a very scary high-kill shelter that ran out of space for this sweet guy. Farfel's was contacted because it just wasn't a possibility that Brice was truly going to face his death. This gorgeous (sorry about the before photo...we'll update to show the beauty of this stunning Poodle) guy is now safely in a foster home in Texas working on his home skills. He's also going here and there with his foster mom for further socialization for this naturally engaging (while initially shy) pup. Farfel's came forth to provide Brice with a new life that would be ... (Read More)safe and respectful! Brice... an approximately 12 - 18 month old and 14 lb puffball...has the softest cottony coat ever. You just want to pet and love on him endlessly. Brice is happily exploring his foster home in Texas with curiosity mixed with a smile that never leaves his adorable face. He gets happier with each day that he's free from the harsh shelter and celebrates in his own devoted and sweet- mannered way. When he's comfortable...he's a comedian that keeps all who meet him smiling and filled with love for his antics. In the end, however, his favorite spot is a lap where this great companion can cuddle up and show his calm devotion. Brice appears to like other dogs and enjoy their company (unless they jump on his head) but doesn't require them in his life to be happy...it's all about his people! We think he'd be great with retirees or a family with older kids who are present and choose to include Brice in their daily activities. He's well-behaved and learning all the time to be a dedicated and loving companion who can be taken along no matter what adventure his family is up to. Brice is a non-shedding pup and considered to be the most hypoallergenic breed. He will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his coat healthy, cotton-soft and matt-free. Brice will be transported to Denver on 9/26. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-20-00145Dobby (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dobbyy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a kind and loyal dog who is the most devoted companion around. There's no question that Dobby would also do well with gentle older kids 12+ who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children as part of Dobby's family (12+ please)... not because he's nasty with young kids but because Dobby is only 22 lbs and 9 - 12 months old, we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. We don't think he'd be happy with the loud voices and occasional rough touches of very young kids. Dobby does love playing and ... (Read More)is entertaining in his antics, young energy and the love he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him. His sad story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore Dobby's beautiful face with the sweet eyes and wavy cotton-soft coat? Dobby has an adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who gives him a bit of time to get over initial shyness. He will then be a loyal and devoted best friend and before you know it he's gently loving you with a wag and a kiss. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. Dobby definitely got some votes for most matted, shelter-dirty guy ever... but with a serious grooming, the beauty of this special pup will become evident (we'll update with a photo). Dobby is a non-shedding guy (considered to be hypoallergenic) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy and matt-free., Dobby is so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a fun hike, a visit with dog-loving friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Dobby's nature. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Dobby to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Dobby will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/26. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.     Piper Miniature Poodle / Terrier mix Male 3 years old 10 lbs. Hey there! My name is Piper and I'm 10 pounds of pure love and excitement! I'm a 3-year-old Miniature Poodle / Terrier mix with a big personality. I'm a really happy fella and have lots of affection to give my humans - even the small ones called 'kids.' I can coexist with cats, but I'm not interested in playing with them. I think other canine friends are much more fun! I'm originally from Kansas, but I'm loving life in colorful Colorado! There is so much to see, which is why I love going for car rides and looking out the window at my fun new surroundings. Running around the yard ... (Read More)and playing with toys are also great passions of mine, as is snuggling! Yep, life is pretty great now that I've been rescued! My foster family has been teaching me how to be a real superstar canine in the house. We're currently working on crate and potty training. I cry just a little bit in the crate, but I settle down quickly. I've had a slight problem with marking in the house, but the sweet folks at PawsCo just took me to get neutered and they say that will help. I don't know too many tricks yet, but I'm a fast learner and eager to please! I'm sure with the right supportive family, I'll be shaking your hand and lying down on command in no time! I'm one of happiest guys you will ever meet! Don't believe me? Let me prove it to you! Email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application if you're looking for sweet guy like me! Rescue Me ID: 14-09-19-00341Candy (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Candy would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loving lap puppy. At just 12 weeks old and about 6 lbs (we anticipate Candy being about about 20 - 30 lbs when full grown since she is a Standard Poodle/Shih Tzu...such an unusual mix and such a perfect size for Colorado outdoor fun) she is so portable that she can be a full-time best friend...accompanying her guardians everywhere a puppy is allowed. Through this socialization, Candy will be a bonded and well-balanced adult ShiPoo. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious ... (Read More)situations. Candy was a last-minute save for us...she would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind TX rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have?? This little dog is just so awesome with her whole life lying in front of her...a life in which she can bring so much joy to a special family. Candy, as a young puppy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance, puppy socialization and positive reinforcement obedience classes, Candy will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. She is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle her way into any heart! Candy may be a bit shy initially and rehoming is challenging for any puppy...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Candy with an active, loving family (and a canine friend would be great) who spend lots of time with their furry companion...she would be overjoyed with the friendships. Candy appears to love children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to kids 8+ who can be gentle and understanding that a puppy requires soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Candy would love nothing more than to share the experience. She is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe her favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside her favorite people. As a Poodle/Shih Tzu mix, Candy is a non-shedding pup who will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her silky coat soft and matt free. Since Candy just has a puppy coat, we can't determine if she would be hypoallergenic enough for those with severe allergy concerns. The Texas vets consider Candy too young to spay. She will be coming in unfixed but Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs at our vet for Candy's spay (at about 18 - 20 weeks) and microchip. She will be up to date in all her vaccinations. Candy will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/26. If interested in this sweet pup who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) in a high-kill shelter in Houston. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Bo's life and is nursing his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Bo is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Bo's foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Bo by his foster mom: --Bo is such a sweet guy just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching Bo learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. He had a hard ... (Read More)start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup! He may very well be initially shy or frightened, but just give him a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Bo loves to run and play outside...he has the appropriate amount of energy for a 3.5 or so year old, 18 lb healthy pup. He would do well with a family who is home alot to hike and play with and run freely at the park - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, he's ready to chill on the couch. Bo loves to snuggle, be petted and doesn't get overly grumpy about grooming which is surprising because he had the biggest matts ever. His gorgeous, non-shedding hair will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful as it can be. Bo appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of his smaller size. Bo has been great with my 12 and 15 year old daughters and me!! I haven't seen him around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for an advanced senior. Bo is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for an active family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life... He has the potential to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Schnoodle his forever family. Bo will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/12. Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's shocking to walk down the aisle of an extremely dreary high-kill Texas shelter and see the handsome Dante. Your mind can't help but go to..how and why did this exceptional dog (both inside & out) get in this horrendous situation? It's fortunate that the awesome volunteers at this shelter do everything possible to save the lives of dogs with great temperaments. The numbers are still very sad and bring home the urgent need to spay/neuter. Dante was one of the extremely fortunate as he rode away from the shelter to a new life. Dante was never properly loved..and finally at approximately 9 - 12 months old..he is neutered and vaccinated. ... (Read More)He'll soon also have a spa day where his matted shelter hair will be groomed after a sudsy bath...he'll be so gorgeous! Dante's great Texas foster is teaching him about appropriate behavior in a home. He is very receptive and his wonderful..and sometimes silly..personality is emerging. While initially a bit shy, Dante warms up into the sweetest guy ever. He's so affectionate and cuddly..and with just a bit of encouragement, he can play with all his heart. His cottony-soft hair flies in the breeze as he plays with the doggie herd at his foster's house. Dante is very receptive and as he turns his head to give you a smile..you see his warm and sensitive eyes. He's so unusually beautiful and sweet..again the shock that he was about to be euthanized. But since all that is in the past..it's now time for Dante to have his very own forever family. His foster is working on his socialization and leash skills in preparation for Dante's trip to a very lucky Colorado family. This patient training will need to continue to make Dante the very best adult dog he can be...and there's tons of potential in this engaging little guy. We envision Dante in an involved family...he would love to walk the CO trails or play in the yard with another respectful dog and his special people. He's so positive and loving that it's impossible not to fall in love. At day's end, he'll be a super-cuddler..and once bonded..a devoted and loyal best friend. Maltipoos are non-shedders and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes. Dante will need periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his silky-soft hair healthy and matt-free. Dante will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/12.
