Rescue Me ID: 15-04-26-00459Cole (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Cole, at only about 15 weeks old and about 12 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 30 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Cole just in time. This sweet, engaging and silly Labradoodle/Maltipoo mix is an unusual combo that has resulted in a very desirable smaller Labradoodle ... (Read More)with a rounder face and very soft, almost Maltese-type hair. It appears to be yet another try at a designer mix that satisfies even more desires of the dog-buying community. Cole's rescuer had the following to say about this beautiful puppy: Coal is a labradoodle that is referred to as a "double doodle"(very desirable in the doodle world). His mom is a registered ckc labradoodle and his dad is a maltidoodle (maltipoo). This mix is often great for those who would prefer a non-shedding, hypoallergenic smaller dog with the softest coat I've ever felt! Coal was born Jan 7,2015. He is an exceptional puppy (so smart and friendly!) He doesn't have an ounce of aggression in his entire body and therefore is great with people and other dogs (untested with cats). He would be wonderful with a family who desires a playful and very engaging dog who is super sweet and can accompany them anywhere due to his great temperament. Cole is an incredibly beautiful puppy...with truly striking blue-black hair that has the beginnings of a silky and cotton-like adult coat. He is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. Cole is so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Lab/Poodle mix. He's also so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Cole is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Cole finding his forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Cole is great with children at his early age and would be an exceptional companion for older kids that be part of a kind yet consistent training regimen. Cole will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will also be neutered when he arrives from Texas, however a very young puppy like Cole is often deemed too young to fixed. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Cole to be neutered/microchipped at our vet in Denver after his arrival on transport to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Cole will be arriving on transport in Denver on 5/2. If interested in this exceptional and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-23-00081George (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Hi, my name is George. My brother and I were being held at a local shelter before the good folks at ARR rescued us! The first thing our foster mom did was take us to the groomers . . . and don't we look handsome? I'm a little sweetie. I'm a snuggler and I'm always on the lookout for a warm lap. I am submissive and good with other dogs. When I meet new people, I do get a bit excited and bark, but I calm down quickly. I am trained on the leash and in the crate. I also know basic commands like sit and stay. I will patiently sit while being leashed or bathed. I admit that I have the urge to mark in unfamiliar places, so I could use ... (Read More)some additional training in that area. However, in my foster home, I adjusted quickly and did not mark at all after the first day. I am treat motivated. I especially like to chew on antlers and horns. I take treats gently and sweetly. Toys are completely new to me. I like to pick up a toy, set it down, and then happily run in a little circle. It's so much fun! I also enjoy walks and car rides. If you are looking for a small dog who will love you forever, please inquire today! Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. I would really like to stay with my brother, Elroy, so you can adopt us both for $350! Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time. (Less)

Hi, my name is Elroy. My brother and I were being held at a local shelter before the good folks at ARR rescued us! The first thing our foster mom did was take us to the groomer . . . and don't we look handsome? I am shy around new people at first, but once I get to know you, I am a total sweetheart. I'm a snuggler and I'm always on the lookout for a warm lap. I good with other dogs, but a little dominant. My brother is the submissive one. I am trained on the leash and in the crate. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00284Theo (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What a sweet and kind Poodle mix our Theo is! At 9 - 12 months old and just about 11 lbs, Theo is an incredibly beautiful guy with a cotton-soft coat with that slight curl that speaks of a Poodle mix. It's so very sad when the guardian of a very young and sensitive dog like Theo doesn't even meet his basic needs. It's so fortunate that Theo is young enough that with love and nurturing, he can blossom into a self-confident and joyous adult dog. The following is the foster report provided by Theo's Texas mom: Theo is as sweet, shy and as docile as they come. Despite all the terrible neglect that he has suffered in his life, he will wag his ... (Read More)tail and derive joy from his relationships. Theo doesn't seem to want to play..but with time and trust, he will develop the desire. At this point, Theo is very quiet and hangs out quietly observing all that is going on around him...we feel like he's very intellectual and is figuring out the world. Theo would be the perfect lap dog for an older couple or individual. He will bond like none other and be the most devoted companion imaginable. I think small children would be overwhelming for Theo...plus he's so perfect for retirees - why not use his talents? Theo has been mistreated in his one year of life and it seems like he just wants to heal... eat a lot, then rest a lot, take a stroll and be the greatest lap dog and lovebug ever! Theo loves me (if I must say so myself) and desires to share his time and heart with me. He's so happy to be a foot or lap-warmer while I'm on the computer and will follow me out to work in the garden...he's not pushy but just wants to be close. Theo loves petting SO much as I am sure no one has ever loved on him. He is a quiet and reserved dog...very much like an old soul. But no foster dog has ever been so very LOVING and expressed how grateful they are to be with me...Theo is absolutely one of a kind in his sweetness! I have several cats and 2 small and calm dogs... Theo has been perfect. I think he is even a little afraid of them. I would not place Theo with a high energy or playful dog-he's just too sensitive and people-oriented for that. Theo is anything but vocal and actually hasn't made a sound since I have had him. He expresses himself more with cuddling and soft touches. Theo doesn't like to be crated but baby gates might be good. He needs to be worked with a bit on his housetraining. He's made huge progress and just needs someone who is present and makes the smallest effort with him...he'll definitely succeed under those circumstances. Theo is such a sweetie-pie with all people. I took him to the vet yesterday and he did great with the vet who is a man (some rescues don't care for men). Theo does need lots of TLC as he has been neglected. But again, he's young and resilient and with lots of good food and kind treatment he will blossom and gain self-esteem. For now Theo needs to be in a quiet and very nurturing home. I've grown to love Theo and wish him the best home ever! When Theo was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring him to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once he senses that all present are his friends (it may take a few minutes initially), Theo is so warm and friendly that he always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a lifelong friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Theo for his kind attitude and quiet and introspective ways. It is Theo's shy love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put him through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Theo has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Rescued Pets Movement of Houston and Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet crate time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Theo as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails quiet time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay all vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he grows healthily heartworm-free. Theo appears to be a non-shedding guy - once he loses his dull shelter coat, it will be replaced by wavy and flowing hair that will be cotton-soft and shining. Theo will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy and matt-free . Theo will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00067Mason (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mason could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a kind and loyal dog who is the most devoted companion around. There's no question that Mason would also do well with gentle older kids (12+ please) who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children as part of Mason's family not because he's nasty with young kids, but because he only weighs about 13 lbs at approximately 18 - 24 months old and we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. We don't think that Mason would be happy with the loud voices and occasional rough pokes or tail pulls of very ... (Read More)young kids. Mason does love playing and is entertaining in his antics, energy and the love he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him. The shelter vet identified Mason as a purebred Poodle. We can't commit to his being a purebred and can see the look of a Bichon in his make-up. Either way..both Bichons as well as Poodles are exceptional dogs. Mason's sad story is all too common in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore Mason'a beautiful face with the sweet eyes and wavy cotton-soft coat? Mason also has an adorable manner and a desire to bond with anyone who gives him a bit of time to get over his initial shyness. He will then be a loyal and devoted best friend and before you know it... he's gently loving you with a wag and a kiss. The awesome Texas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. Mason definitely got some votes for the most matted, shelter-dirty guy ... but with a serious grooming, the beauty of this special pup will become evident (we'll update with a photo). Mason is a non-shedding guy (considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy and ma cog-loving friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Mason's nature. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Mason to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. We've requested that Mason be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. Due to the huge number of dogs in Houston's shelters, they can't always fulfill our request. If they don't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs (if our Denver vet is used) for Mason's neuter, Mason will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00051Bentley-PENDING! (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Farfel's Rescue was notified by a compassionate rescuer in Texas that a strikingly beautiful, and sweet as can be, Maltese/Poodle mix was scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. The rescuer spoke of this 3 - 3.5 year old (perfect age for a dog..old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind and young enough to have many active years left), 11 lb pup as a gift of pure love. She saw Bentley as a wonderful and kind companion for a family with older kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Bentley if they treated him roughly. She also described him as a great friend to gentle canines...he would enjoy the ... (Read More)playing, long walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at Bentley's lovely eyes staring out of the shelter photo (they spoke of difficult times)... and heard the reports of Bentley's carefully wagging tail that spoke of a huge desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Bentley immediately into our rescue. He was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and brought to a nurturing family who will reinforce Bentley's house skills and socialization while he waits for his transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Bentley a committed and super-loving family who will enjoy him for his devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Bentley becomes comfortable in his surroundings, he is a friend that will make you laugh at his silly antics and want to hold him tight just because he's so incredibly cute! We would love to see Bentley in a home where he becomes a true member of the family. Retirees or individuals who work out of the house would be perfect for this sweet young guy. Bentley tends to be a calm pup at this point who loves nothing more than to settle into his person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wiggle of delight at his good fortune. He would love long walks outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure. Bentley appears to be a non-shedding pup (we know that under the listless shelter hair..there's a gorgeous coat just waiting to grow). He will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his beautiful coat silky and matt-free. Bentley will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24/15. If interested in this sweet dog who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00037Mitzi (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mitzi looked every bit the stray as she came into a very high-kill shelter in Texas. It was possible that she had never had a haircut or a bath in her entire 1-year life. Mitzi represents the sad opportunism that is so present in breeding what is considered a designer breed mix. In this case...a Mini Schnauzer and a Toy Poodle resulting in a 7 lb Schnoodle with the sweetest temperament possible. In most cases, these dogs are treated so poorly and disrespectfully'|and then disposed of when their perceived use is over. But under all her hair and matts is a gorgeous girl with stunning markings and the sweetest soul ever. Mitzi deserves a ... (Read More)great life every bit as much as any other living being. She has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. Mitzi is never one to turn down a welcoming lap or a friendly canine companion. She tries so hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family to adore and respect her. Mitzi's little tail wags hesitantly when she sees a possibility for a pat or any loving gesture. She would be overjoyed if she got attention'|it would bring a light to those sad eyes! Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional (Schnauzer/Poodle mix). We're hoping for a spa day for Mitzi before she arrives in Colorado from Texas...we'd like her hair shaved.. enabling it to grow back into the soft waves that are the hallmark of the Schnoodle mix. Groomers for these urgent rescue dogs are very difficult to find...therefore if Mitzi's foster doesn't choose to groom her, it may not occur prior to transport. If this is the case, Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost for our Denver groomer to make Mitzi gorgeous after her arrival. It will be after this sudsy bath and haircut that you will be able to see the soft glow in Mitzi's kind eyes that speak of a gentle soul. We're searching for a very loving and committed family that is excited to spend time with a tiny best friend. At 12 - 18 months old, Mitzi is very young and open to learn from the gentle guidance and time put in by people who love her. She will return that devotion a million times over once she understands that she can trust. We feel that Mitzi would enjoy a retired couple or individual or a family with older children 12+ who will be gentle and loving toward Mitzi. It's a new path that this sensitive pup is pursuing'|she'll be so successful with the knowledge that she is loved and chosen to be a member of a very special family. Mitzi appears to be a non-shedding girl...although we'll be able to tell more once she loses her brittle and matted shelter coat. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to bring out the beauty and good health of her amazing hair. Mitzi will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00007Pebbles (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Pebbles is the pup you want to have around! Pebbles, at just about 3 - 3.5 years old (such a perfect age..old enough to have left puppyish ways behind yet young enough to have many active years ahead) and 21 lbs (great size to hike the CO mountains and then be a lap dog at the end of the day) may initially be a bit hesitant but then before you know it... the most bonded and loving girl around. Pebbles enjoys her time with her foster mom so much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Pebbles loves her people more than anything..she's a little ... (Read More)lovebug and derives so much joy from her time spent with kind, dog-loving people. Pebbles also enjoys other dogs as long as they're very gentle and of a small size. This incredibly adorable pup exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Pebbles's tough early life has left no visible scars on the personality of this devoted and sweet pup. Her bond to her people leads us to believe that Pebbles would be happiest in an active retiree's home. She would blossom with the time and attention that this type of family would offer. Pebbles is also so portable at 21 lbs that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it riding shotgun in the car or hanging out at the home of a dog-loving friend, Pebbles is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in virtually every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, she's crept onto the couch and snuggled up to spend quality time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Pebbles is all over it. She'll be so happy to go off in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly dogs. Pebbles has an amazing attitude for a dog from a scary shelter... but it was her great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life. Pebbles would be very happy in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A beginning positive reinforcement obedience group class will create additional family bonding as well as promoting great behavior and confidence. Pebbles, being a combination of two non-shedding breeds, would generally be excellent for those who suffer from allergies. Pebbles will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her beautiful Poodle coat silky-soft and matt-free. If Pebbles doesn't get groomed in Texas prior to transport, Farfel's will be happy to cover the costs for her grooming at our Denver groomer. Pebbles will arrive on transport in Denver on 4/24/15. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-13-00702Riley (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Riley is an absolutely adorable year-and-ahalf year old labradoodle. His face looks like a teddy bear He was rescued during the floods in Northern Colorado when he was just a few weeks old, and we have had him ever since. For the most part he has been a good dog and he is loved very much, however recently he has been aggressive and has bitten a member of the household. Despite our best efforts and working with a trainer, we have decided that Riley is just not the best fit for our family right now. But we (as well as the trainer) are still confident that he could be a great dog for the right household! He has been through obedience ... (Read More)training with Mountain States K9 in Denver, CO and does have commands that he responds to, and are more than happy to share those with potential adopters as well as provide the contact information for the trainer we have worked with. Riley is a very active dog that absolutely loves just running at the dog park and playing with his ball. He does require at least a moderate amount of time and energy being consistent with his training and to hopefully remedy his aggression/dominance issue(mainly centered around food and/or posessions), but would fit well with someone who is experienced with training or with dominant temperaments. He could also be great as a project for someone interested in training and has the dedication to do it. Riley has been around our 18month-old granddaughter and all of the other young grandchildren and has been great. He plays with them and even seems to be protective. However we just weren't willing to take the chance of having an incident. We are more than happy to provide any and all information about Riley and his life, and answer any questions you have. We really just want him to go to a good home. Thank you... (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-13-00006Monty (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Monty is the pup you want to have around! Monty, at just about 12 - 18 months old and approximately 12 lbs, is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving guy around. Monty enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Monty loves his people more than anything..he's a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from his time spent with kind, dog-loving people. This incredibly adorable pup exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Monty's tough early life has left no visible scars ... (Read More)on the personality of this devoted and sweet pup. His bond to his people leads us to believe that Monty would be happiest in an active retiree's home. He would blossom with the time and attention that this type of family would offer. Monty is also so portable at just 12 or so lbs that he is able to accompany his family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car, Monty is ready and willing. He is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, his joy starts with his little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on his cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, he's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Monty is all over it. Off he'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly dogs. Monty has an amazing attitude for a dog from a scary shelter... but it was his great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life. Monty would be very happy in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A beginning positive reinforcement obedience group class will create additional family bonding as well as promoting great behavior and confidence. Monty, being a Poodle/Bichon is a non-shedding pup who would be great for those who suffer from allergies. Monty will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his beautiful Poodle coat silky-soft and matt-free. Sorry about the awful photo of this truly beautiful dog. Monty had to be completely shaved (and they cut his head crooked!) in order to get rid of the thick matts that made it difficult for him to walk. He's now free and his pure white hair will grow back true to the beauty of his breed mix. Monty will arrive on transport in Denver on 4/17/15. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-12-00707Taffy (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Men Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Taffy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question Taffy would also do well with gentle older kids 10+ who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Taffy's family not because she doesn't enjoy young kids...she really does - but because Taffy is only about 14 lbs and approximately 2 - 2.5 years old, we want to make certain she's handled gently and respectfully. Taffy does love playing and is entertaining in her silly antics, youthful energy and the huge love she wants to show to everyone she ... (Read More)knows. Taffy's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore her adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who would be her best friend? Taffy can initially be a bit shy..but give her a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and she inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it she's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Kansas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this sweet girl a permanent member of their family. Taffy would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Taffy's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Taffy to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Taffy is a non-shedding pup with the softest hair ever (sorry about the awful photo..Taffy had to be shaved due to stickers in her 4 inch long hair..we'll update). She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Taffy will be arriving on transport in Denver on 4/14/15. Applications are currently being accepted for this devoted and fun-loving companion. They can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We have a sweet toy poodle mix available for adoption. She is about 5 and half years old. She weighs 5 pounds. She needs a home that is quiet, with a loving human who wants a cuddly companion. Ruby loves to snuggle and be pet. She is very friendly, a bundle of energy when first meeting, but will calm down once she knows you. She has some very basic training. She can sit and do down. She is fully crate trained. She is a very smart dog, but submissive to the one she knows to be in charge. She is great with people, very endearing. She does well with children over the age of 7. She is sweet with everyone but young children get in ... (Read More)her space and it makes her nervous. She does well with dogs in short spans of time. If the dog had a submissive temperment and was older and her size she would do well living with them. A young pup or a large dog would overwhelm her after a while. She's stayed with cats before and has done well with them. She's up to date on all vaccines and just had her teeth cleaned. Her fee includes her crate, a bed, a retractable leash, a harness and a matching leash, her collar, and toys. We love Ruby and would keep her if we could. We have a new baby and a toddler, and have moved to a home without a yard. I know she'll be a very delightful companion! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-05-00104Luigi-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Luigi was rescued several months ago from a high-kill Texas shelter.. and was adopted into a home that was not an appropriate match for him. Sadly, he spent four months with a family that didn't have the time or desire to teach Luigi how to channel his puppy energy. This very playful and dynamic Poodle/Bedlington Terrier mix is a snuggly, cuddly guy searching for boundaries and positive acceptance (treats would be great to let him know he's done a great job). Luigi's foster mom has the following to say about this special dog: Luigi is a sweet young dog, he's about 18-24 months old (or perhaps younger, since his behavior is so open and ... (Read More)puppy-like). He is a Bedlington Terrier/Poodle mix (one of the top non-shedding and hypoallergenic breeds that are available today) and is completely potty trained! Just pop a doggie door in (they now have the great kind that fits perfectly in a sliding glass patio door) and off Luigi will go to do his business..and have a sniff and a roll in the yard. Farfel's won't consider a home for Luigi that doesn't have a very safe, foolproof fence. He apparently found ways to keep himself busy by leaving the yard, visiting around the neighborhood and then returning home..this is the type of wandering that causes car accidents! Dogs tend to do this when not getting the mental stimulation and true love with time-spent that every dog craves. Luigi has been neutered, and is a very happy little guy who weighs about 20 pounds. He is an animated and very fun pup who loves to play fetch with a tennis ball or any stuffed toy. He absolutely loves sleeping and snuggling next to his favorite human! Luigi is really good around older children ages 9+ (we've never introduced Luigi to very young and hands-on type of kids as we didn't want tail-pulling or eye-poking). He has had so much fun playing like a lunatic with our 9 and 12 year old daughters (I'd always hear them howling with laughter when Luigi got particularly silly.) However, Luigi's fun personality and puppy -like energy level is not appropriate for very young children or older seniors...they could be overwhelmed. A large fenced yard would be perfect for Luigi... he has so much energy and absolutely loves to run and have a blast! He would be so thrilled with a family that understands positive reinforcement training. Like a child, no dog is born knowing what the human society is expecting of his behavior...there are times to play and times to just chill. It's the dog guardian's job to teach these boundaries with group training classes, positive reinforcement and lots of treats. Luigi's current family never had the time, or the experience, to understand the needs of a young dog and to teach him the simplest commands. In other words, Luigi is an open book, just waiting for his people to love him enough to provide him with the skills to be a responsive and pleasant adult dog. Farfel's would love to see Luigi in a very nurturing and committed family where he gets the attention and proper stimulation that has been lacking in his life. We hope to place this amazing..and truly stunning.. guy with a family that is present and very involved in making their dog a true family member. He's the perfect size to accompany his people anywhere....being so portable to be able to snuggle down in the car and share time on a family vacation. Luigi would be so happy with a family that includes him on a hike ..or better yet, a free and joyous run in a safe area. He runs like the wind and is far happier with the benefit of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Luigi still needs to work on his skills around other dogs..he get so excited for the possibility of play and has never been taught how to calm this excitement down. With training and time-spent he will understand what's expected of him and what appropriate play is about. Since Luigi is a non-shedding guy, he will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Luigi is being fostered in the Denver area and is currently available for a Meet and Greet. If interested in this very kind and energetic guy who is so full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside & out) Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix with perhaps just a touch of Terrier) in a high-kill Texas shelter. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Butterscotch's life and has nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Butterscotch is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for his foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that Butterscotch will have a life of joy and the love of a committed family. The following is a description of Butterscotch by his foster mom: --Butter is such a sweet puppy just ... (Read More)waiting to blossom. I've truly enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. He had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable and well-loved pup! Butterscotch may be initially shy, but just give him a moment and you'll have a new best friend. Butter loves to run and play outside...he has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 7 - 8 month old, 25 lb healthy pup. We anticipate Butterscotch to be about 38 - 40 or so lbs when full-grown...the perfect medium size pup! Butter would do well with a family who is home alot to hike and play with and run joyfully through the mountain trails or at the park - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, Butter's ready to chill on the couch. He loves to snuggle, be petted and doesn't get overly grumpy about anything really..Butter is extremely even-tempered. As well as a very even personality, Butter is also incredibly beautiful! I know it's very hard to tell from this sad shelter photo, but Butter has the most beautiful, expressive eyes I've ever seen! His gorgeous, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding...it's still a little early to tell exactly what his adult coat will be like) hair will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful and as shed-free as possible. Butterscotch is always fine and pleasant with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of the fact that he is still learning. He loves to have fun and sometimes an older dog just doesn't want to play. As far as people..Butter has been absolutely great with my 12 and 15 year old daughters and me!! I haven't seen him around small kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for an advanced senior. Butter is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for an active family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. He has the potential to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion..particularly after positive reinforcement group obedience classes that are great for every puppy! Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Schnoodle a loving and committed forever family. Butterscotch will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/20/15. If interested in this sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)
