Rescue Me ID: 16-07-25-00327Happy (male)

Poodle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Happy is a 6 year old Micro-mini Labradoodle, 26 lbs, who has tons of personality and loves to please. He needs a special home which would be best with no kids or kids older than 15 years. He does best with women due to a rough start in life but could handle a single guy who was calm and had other dogs. He would love to be with someone with land where he can run without being on a leash all the time and perhaps be with other dogs but also sleep inside at night. He is NOT an apartment dog, which is our current residence. He needs plenty of exercise each day. The good: Happy is a devoted boy who loves to run and exercise. He is good ... (Read More)off lead with other dogs, horses and other animals. He loves to travel and is willing and able to hike, go on trail rides and be a wonderful barn pal. He is a great mole catcher too! Up to date on all inoculations. The not so good: His poodle comes out and he can get anxious. Although he gets 8-10 walks a day and some of those are off lead, he is having a hard time living in a small space. He is very protective of his territory and will bite and growl if he feels he needs to protect his person (me!). We love Happy very much and want him to be as happy as possible so will be picky about who he goes to. We hope it's you! (Less)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Cowboy is a 16lb, 1.5 YO, Malipoo. Cowboy was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico. The shelter he was dumped at gets very little foot traffic and because of this they end up euthanizing a lot of dogs. We know that Cowboy will be able to find a great home here in CO and seeing him beg for attention behind his cage was too heartbreaking. Cowboy is now on his way to CO and is so excited to find his forever homes in this beautiful place! Cowboy is a sweet, sweet dog. Cowboy would be great dog to take on walks or hikes in the CO mountains. He gets along great with other dogs and seems to just fine with kids. Cowboy loves to snuggle and ... (Read More)really wants someone who will give him lots of affection and love. Once he gets to know you he will climb right on your lab and give this look of 'please love me?' Cowboy is a low-none shedding dog, so he will need regular grooming appointments. If you are interested in adopting Cowboy, please email us for an application at sunshinecnayondr@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-22-00062Parker (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Parker is an 11MO miniature poodle mix. Parker's 'owner' had his tail docked, then did not want to deal with the healing process. She would not spend the money to buy a cone for him to wear, or any pain meds. Because of this he chewed through the incision and it kept getting worse and worse. Poor little Parker was in so much pain and the one person he trusted couldn't even be bothered to deal with it. Since he was getting blood all over her house she finally had enough and surrendered him to the shelter. Parker is such a sweet sweet boy, it is hard for us to imagine how anybody could be so careless towards an animal that wants to give ... (Read More)nothing but love. Parkers tail is finally starting to heal, and his happy personality is starting to show again. It will still be a few weeks until he is completely better, but now that he has someone properly caring for him, each day things are looking up. Since Parker is still a puppy, he does have some of that puppy energy, but more than anything he just wants to be loved and snuggled. Parker's fur looks 100% poodle like, but his ears stick up a little. They are SO cute, but make us believe he may not be full poodle. We would not recommend Parker to a family with someone who has severe allergies. As far as we know, Parker gets along great with everybody. He seems to like other dogs and just loves people. Part of the reason his old owner decided to dock his tail was because she said he had 'happy tail' He was always such a happy little guy and his tail would get going so quickly. We believe that Parker would do great with any family setting. We may be extra cautious when placing Parker in a home with kids younger than 10 since he is a smaller dog and we want to ensure his safety. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-19-00143Jasmine (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We got a very concerned email from Texas about sweet Jasmine ...the shelter was set on finding a home for this very beautiful (with the most amazing eyes that speak of great wisdom) and very sweet Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle (Jasmine looks for all the world like a purebred Yorkie..vets felt her larger size might be a bit of Poodle in her makeup). Jasmine was recognized for her sweet personality (and her beauty always attracts admirers everywhere she goes). But as stunning as Jasmine is on the outside (although this poor girl will be so happy after a sudsy bath and new hairdo) it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from ... (Read More)the heart of this pup. Jasmine aced her temperament testing (she passed with flying colors) and got a perfect on her vetting assessment. So...off she went to her foster home, to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for her transport to Denver and a brand new life. Since Jasmine has gotten an A for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...she's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision her in a home with active and nurturing retirees who can cuddle and love Jasmine with a light touch. She'd be overjoyed in a home that will shower her with time and attention and she will return the love a thousand times over. We would never want Jasmine in a situation where she's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for her to be a true family member.. to be taken along on walks, adventures and visits with dog-loving friends. Jasmine is almost impossible not to fall in love with...her manner speaks of softness and light. She also travels like a champ - she loves nothing more than coming along on errands, socializing, visits and any adventure that keeps her together with those she loves. Jasmine would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways..and is a perfect companion and lap dog at 3.5 - 4 years old and 14 lbs..so easy to scoop up and take along. Jasmine is such a sweetie-pie that she attracts admirers everywhere she goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Jasmine back to her family every time...she's a one-family girl! Jasmine will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/22/16. If interested in this snuggly and loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-14-00750Polly-Adoption Pending (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Schnauzer/Poodle mixes are always a favorite among the many groups of mixed breed dogs. We all seem to love their fun, outgoing and snuggly nature. Polly appears to be a perfect combo within the Schnauzer breed. Her truly beautiful coat (charcoal black and honey brown..so gorgeous ) lights up her adorable face. Her dark eyes are so expressive that you understand the pain she's been through while seeing her optimism and love of life. Polly is obviously very special...she was found wandering sadly through a Houston neighborhood and a wonderful TX foster couldn't let her go..she brought her into her home to heal and to ready her for ... (Read More)a forever home. At just about 12 - 24 months old and 30 lbs (the perfect size for hiking and playing in the Colorado mountains), Polly shines with an engaging and sweet disposition. She is an active girl whose tail never stops wagging...yet calms down easily (particularly after a walk or hike) and can just hang out on the couch with the best of them. Polly was described by the shelter as: Sweet, Somewhat Shy, Calm yet quite Playful. She was very kind with shelter personnel as well as other dogs. Polly enjoys gentle and respectful older dog-crazy kids and would be an active participant in outdoor games in the yard or a walk to the park. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and would always enjoy a game or a shared walk. Somewhere along the line, we think that Polly was given love and respect..probably because she's so capable of returning warmth and kindness. Polly is great to take along anywhere there are groups of dog-loving people. She can be a bit shy initially but always warms up with sweetness and warm hugs. We feel that Polly would do well in any home that offered her love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive girl), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement group training classes to make her the best dog she can possibly be. Polly has an amazing coat that will grow more beautiful and soft as cotton with great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement) and periodic grooming. This regimen will keep Polly's hair healthy and matt-free. Polly's sad shelter coat (as shown in photo) may have to be shaved due to thick matts. It will grow in with the beautiful colors and cottony softness of a well taken care of coat. Polly's foster mom sent us this report on sweet Polly -- This incredibly beautiful (with a capital B) Schnoodle is sweet and wonderful. She can be quite playful..she's been passing the time playing chase and happily wrestling with my sister's dog who is gentle yet fun. She's very good with people... she likes to be next to me after we take our morning walk.. and just chill. Polly loves her hikes and walks, but still needs a bit more practice to walk calmly without pulling on the leash. Polly appears to have the idea about house-training but I would always anticipate some teaching on this each time a dog is rehomed. It's helpful if there's another dog in the home to show the way. We have 2 small to medium size dogs of our own that have hated all our previous fosters...but Polly is so agreeable that even our grumpy dogs are OK with her being with us. --My dear, sweet Polly...you're a great and brave girl and I wish you a place in the best home ever!-- Polly is being fostered in the Denver area. If interested in this very sweet, loving and active best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-13-00156Carla-Adoption Pending (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Carla could be that dream come true companion for a family with older kids or active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. The Bichon Frise/Poodle mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Carla's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter. But who could ignore her adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who might be her new best friend? Carla's engaging and sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. She is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best ... (Read More)qualities of the Bichon Frise mix. She seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. At about 4.5 years old and 25 lbs (perfect hiking size), Carla is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Carla in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Carla would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. She doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Carla will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a hike in the mountains or a visit with friends. A car ride is always fun..especially if it leads to a great spot. Carla would also be very happy to spend the afternoon just being together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Carla's gentle temperament and extremely loving ways. Carla is a non-shedding girl and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed available today. She will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and soft as cotton. Carla's shelter photo is very sad and in no way does this beautiful girl justice. We've requested post-shelter photos from the home of Carla's Texas foster. We'll update just as soon as receive them. Carla will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 7/15/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.     Max looked every bit the stray as he came into a very high-kill shelter in Texas. It was possible that this beautiful Shih Tzu mix (with the most expressive dark eyes ever) had never had a haircut or a bath in his entire 1.5-2 year life. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-23-00171Caleb (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What a sweet and kind Wheaten Terrier/Poodle our Caleb is! Is that a Woodle or a Poowoo..we're not sure but it's a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, non-shedding cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these dogs are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these pups and find them nurturing and committed homes. At 3-3.5 years old and 20.2 lbs, Caleb is an incredibly beautiful guy . We all know Caleb has arrived when we see the wag that starts at his tail and becomes a full-blown body ... (Read More)wiggle. Caleb may be initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as he's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for his pending euthanasia date. When he was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Caleb to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once he senses that all present are his friends, Caleb is so warm and friendly that he always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Caleb for his kind attitude and playful ways. He is learning to play with toys and waits expectantly...with his eyes so bright and joyful..to draw his favorite people into his games. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Caleb would enjoy a mellow home where he is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Caleb would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either hiking or walking through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, he's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night. It is Caleb's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put Caleb through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Bamboo has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and all of our dogs ever who have been through HW treatment have gone on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Caleb as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he becomes healthily heartworm-free. Caleb (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that included the whole family - he is a super-smart guy who truly wants to please. Great training will give Caleb the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this Woodle as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members . Caleb is a non-shedding pup with a stunning coat with the most beautiful apricot streaks. His coat looks so sad in his photo...if Caleb's Houston foster doesn't bathe/groom him prior to transport, Farfel's is happy to cover the cost for Caleb's grooming at our rescue groomer in Denver. Caleb will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his hair healthy and matt-free. Caleb will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/10/1. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Havanese mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Jonah became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. This could be one of the most awful photos of a beautiful puppy that we've ever received. Through ... (Read More)this blurry image, you can see that Jonah is a gorgeous guy who is very frightened by his intake at a dreary shelter. We've requested new photos but have yet to receive them. We'll update as soon as we do so. At just 8 months old and 12.6 lbs (anticipated to be 14 lbs when full-grown), this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Jonah to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Jonah and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Jonah gets lots of attention when he's out and about with his foster because he's a stunning guy. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. Jonah was identified by shelter vets as a Havanese/Poodle mix and we can see both beautiful breeds in this cutie-pie. He's an adorable and fun scruffy puppy that's irresistible! When Jonah turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Jonah 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Jonah. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Jonah is more comfortable around quieter energy. A retired couple or individual or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Jonah, once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Jonah would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you weigh less than 15 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs. Jonah is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Jonah's foster mom is very happy to report that Jonah is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Jonah will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Jonah will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 6/10/16. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
