I am an 11 year old neutered male bichon poodle mix, aka bouncing bundle of happiness. I am good on leash, but doesn't get to go often or far. I was raised with a cat and another dog. I am pen trained and love my pen! It is my safety zone, and I sleep there and stay in it when no one is home. I get groomed about every 4 months (a haircut). My previous owners have given me a bath, which I tolerated well, however I to missed the hairdryer finish as it was not offered, and toe nail trims. I am a very happy fella, and I'm sure you can't help but want to spend time with me!

Hi, I'm JJ! I am two parts Jack Russell, one part Poodle and one part Chihuahua (a recipe for cuteness!). I have an innate sweetness and warm up to new people quickly. I am very loyal to my person. I enjoy snuggling and riding in the car. Plus, like any true terrier, I am the guardian of the home. My ideal forever home would provide a calm environment where I can be the only dog or paired with a small female dog. I enjoy hikes, walks and playing with toys! Be warned- my happiness is contagious! My adoption fee is $50.00, which will be donated to Animal Rescue of the Rockies for their rescue efforts. This is a courtesy post; Please ... Rescue Me ID: 15-07-27-00583Berny (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Berny is a 6YO, 11lb schnoodle. It is very easy to tell that Berny has been through a lot in his life. When we got him off transport he was too scared to even come out of the crate for hours. He was so matted and dirty it was hard to believe that any family would let him live that way. Not only that, but Berny is now blind in one eye, due to what could have been a birth defect, or an infection. Now that Berny is in a loving foster home, his true personality is starting to come out. Berney gets along great with other dogs and cats. Even though he is 6 years old, he does not act like it. He absolutely loves to go to the dog park and ... (Read More)play fetch, he brings it back every time. Berny also loves to just hang out and have lazy days. His favorite spot is to be curled up on the couch next to his foster and the other foster dogs. Berny was overweight when he came to us, and still needs to lose a few lbs, but now that he is getting proper exercise and nutrition he is already starting to look so much healthier. Finding a new home for Berny is also a second chance of living life the way he should. He was clearly not taken care of too well before, but he does not let that stop him from getting attached and having the capacity to love someone. At this time, we will not adopt Berny to a family with kids under 15 because he can get startled easily, and we do not think that is fair to put him in a home where he will feel 100% relaxed and safe all the time. We believe he may get scared sometimes because he does not always see people coming since he is blind in one eye. Other than the rare startle, Being blind in one eye does not prevent Berny from anything. Since Berny is none-shedding, hypo-alergenic dog, he will need regular grooming appointments. If you are interested in Berny, please email us at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com (Less)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Wheaten Terrier/Basset mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely kind and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets...and since they require a certain amounts of exercise and absolutely love being with their people...if a hike is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and ... (Read More)canines. Summer is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl who favors the coat, look and intellect of the Wheaten Terrier while taking on the more laid back qualities of the Basset Hound. She appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very lightly shedding pup) and will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and cottony-soft.. As Summer loses the old hair of her shelter days, her coat will grow in shining and less likely to shed. Summer's Texas foster had the following to say about this wonderful girl: Summer is a great dog and an awesome, very easy to manage companion! She is great with other dogs (I have 2 and I know it's a gift to have a dog that gets along well with others) and loves kids...I have 2 munchkins under the age of 4 and she is very sweet and respectful. Summer is completely housebroken..just show her the area outside that you'd like her to use. It's such a plus that she's so clean about herself ..no accidents at all. I have found Summer to be an awesome and fun-loving dog. Whoever is lucky enough to have her join their family is truly getting a gem! Summer's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Summer is outgoing and social and that means everyone she meets can ultimately become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Summer's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if couch space is available, up Summer goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Summer is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Terrier and Basset Hound. At about 18 - 24 months old and 42 lbs (such a great medium-sized girl..perfect for enjoying the Colorado outdoors), Summer seems to have completely left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. She has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Summer in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's so friendly and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her to be a very important family member. Summer would be a wonderful companion for just about anyone...retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup as well as families with children...Summer would be a true best companion throughout their childhood! Summer doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does truly enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Summer will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 7/24/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00833Suzie (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves Terriers (they always rank very high in the most popular breeds list). They're particularly popular when they're a Terrier/Poodle mix. Suzie is a great representative of these two breeds. Suzie is very smart and people-loving with the Poodle body type. She has the non-shedding coat of both her breeds with Terrier scruffiness and that occasional silly energy. Suzie was acknowledged at a high-kill Oklahoma shelter for having a great personality for an adult family and being so wonderful to love on and cuddle. She is not particularly interested in other dogs and was reported to hang out on her own...never ... (Read More)aggressive but not choosing to play or have other dogs invade her space. It's for this reason that we feel that Suzie would be happiest as the one and only dog in her forever home. At 12 - 24 months old and just about 12 lbs, Suzie is a very beautiful girl. You can tell when you look into her very expressive eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but she would never be one to carry that around. While initially shy...give her a moment! Suzie's sweet energy makes you melt. As she trusts more and more... this adorable little pup is in your lap letting you know you are her number one love! We can't think of a more devoted companion for retirees who are searching for the sweetest playmate ever. Suzie would be a kind and respectful family member...she loves her people and desires to behave to the best of her ability. She simply needs to understand what is being asked of her..once she's clear, she truly wants to comply. We think Suzie would be successful in positive group obedience classes. She would naturally bond with her family while learning skills that will make her a well-trained member of the community. She desires be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a happy tail and a kiss of greeting. Suzie will fit in with a retired family or individual that enjoys outdoor adventures..she loves the sunshine and would be overjoyed with a long walk, a fenced yard and a sunny porch. She is more than happy to engage in anything her guardian has in mind ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel that Suzie would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel that leaving her alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive girl. She's so pleasant...and could accompany her family just about anywhere a sweet pup is welcome. We would love a family that would give Suzie the benefit of this type of socialization. She would truly be a gift to anyone searching for a loving and extremely devoted best friend. Suzie is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are being accepted for this wonderful adult companion. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Buttons is the dog you want to have around! Buttons, at just about 3 years old and 20 lbs, is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving guy around. Buttons enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! Buttons loves his people more than anything..he's a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from his time spent with kind, dog-loving adults. Buttons doesn't dislike young children...but has lived with a 14-month old baby and is now more comfortable and secure around adults in his ... (Read More)home. This very adorable guy exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Buttons has been very fortunate that he's never experienced life at a shelter. He's only known pure love from his very kind adult family and has developed into a dog that is very sweet and devoted to adults...they're so predictable. The baby of Button's current household is now crawling and grabbing. This is very scary for Buttons and therefore the tough decision has been made to rehome this beautiful guy. Buttons Boulder family had the following to say about this sweet pup: Buttons is an extremely loving small to medium- sized dog, weighing 20lbs. He has hair, not fur and therefore doesn't shed and needs to be groomed. He also requires premium kibble to keep his coat soft and healthy. We are not sure exactly what breeds are in Buttons, but vets have said Wheaten Terrier/Poodle (Woodle) or Tibetan terrier/Poodle. Buttons is a very affectionate dog who loves snuggles and positive attention. He is completely potty trained (asks to go outside) and knows sit, down, leave it and walking commands on a leash. He loves to play fetch and chew on his toys. Buttons has been completely healthy with no health issues. Buttons is neutered and current with all vaccinations, heart worm, etc.. Buttons bond to his people leads us to believe that he would be happiest in an active retiree's home. He would blossom with the time and attention that this type of family would offer. Buttons is also very portable at 20 lbs and therefore able to accompany his family just about anywhere...be it to a dog-loving friend's house, riding shotgun in the car or hiking on a trail...Buttons is ready and willing. Buttons is a welcome guest in virtually every situation...when comfortable, his joy starts with his little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on his cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, he's crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Buttons is all over it. Off he'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly, gentle dogs. Buttons has an amazing attitude and we feel that he will be the cuddliest and sweetest guy and his personality will truly emerge once he's free of the tail-pulling and poking of a young baby. Buttons would be so happy in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of hugs. A beginning positive reinforcement obedience group class will create additional family bonding as well as promoting great behavior and confidence. Buttons is being fostered in Boulder. If interested in this sweet and devoted adult best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves Poodles and Poodle mixes (they rank in the top 10 of the most popular breeds). We do...especially if they're as sweet and as incredibly loving as Chaz . He was acknowledged at a high-kill Texas shelter for having a great personality and being so wonderful to love on and cuddle. This recognition is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 450 dogs at almost all times with a very high daily turn-in rate. Chaz, at about 18 - 24 months old and 11.6 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful Poodle mix. His sad shelter photo shows a dog that had been so matted that prior to his entering the shelter that he had to ... (Read More)be shaved to the skin. Matts are extremely painful and we feel like this is the first time that Chaz has been free of their pull. When his non-shedding (Poodles and Maltese are considered to be two of the most hypoallergenic shed-free breeds) coat grows in, it will be cottony-soft with striking shades of chocolate and tan running through it. You can tell when you look into Chaz's very expressive dark eyes that his short life has held sadness and challenges..but he would never be one to carry that around. Chaz loves people and other dogs and is generally overjoyed with life. While initially a bit shy...give him a moment! Chaz's great energy makes you melt. As he trusts more and more...the love that has always lived inside him emerges and before you know it, this beautiful Maltipoo is in your lap letting you know you are his number one! We can't think of a better or more devoted companion for retirees or a family with very gentle older children. Chaz would be a kind and respectful family member...he loves his people and desires to behave to the best of his ability. He simply needs to understand what is being asked of him..once he's clear, he truly wants to comply. We think Chaz would be very successful in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. (Read More)hour so patience is mandatory. Then again certain people have come into our home and he's all over them, loving on them, rubbing on them going crazy. He's had a few visits from potential new homes but they have been impatient and left before he was comfortable enough to approach him (It took over an hour for him to come to me when I got him, I was told it was 'nerves'). He's sweet when he wants to be. He's been trained and has lifelong training at 'Sit Means Sit' however they feel unable to help us in the timeframe we need help in (immediate to avoid him biting the baby). He is microchipped and UTD on shots as well as neutered. He needs a patient and loving home with no little little ones around. $75 adoption fee is negotiable to the right home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-30-00288Hope (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

What a sweet and kind MaltiPoo our Hope is! We're not sure what type of irresponsible situation Hope came from...but we do know that the Maltese/Poodle is a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, non-shedding cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. They're never given the benefit of heartworm preventative or medical care in these dismal living situations. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs with great temperaments and find them nurturing and committed homes. At ... (Read More)about 4 years old (such a great age for the long-living MaltiPoo...old enough to be past babyish behavior and young enough to have many, many active years left to be a best friend.) and 9 lbs, Hope is so portable to bring along to any dog-friendly location. We all know Hope has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Hope is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. She may be initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for her pending euthanasia date. When Hope was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring her to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once she senses that all present are her friends, Hope is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to sweet Hope for her kind attitude and playful ways. She is learning to play and enjoy life as a much-loved dog in her foster home. Hope seems to have a bit of leash experience as she's developing some further skills and seems to love the experience. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Hope needs a mellow, very nurturing home where she is an active and important member of the family. Hope has suffered the injustice of being heartworm+ (this so easily could have been prevented by a responsible guardian with an inexpensive monthly preventative) and losing partial vision in one eye that also could have been treated effectively with medication. Through it all, Hope's positive attitude and love of life shines through...she's not about to give up her joy due to a few challenges. We feel that Hope would love to be with a retired family who has the time to spend and where there's a more predictable environment. Hope would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day with her favorite people walking through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, she's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night. It is Hope's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Hope has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves either several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog or a slow kill method that takes a year to complete. We have found both protocol to be successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Hope as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay all vet bills (at our Denver vet only) and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free. We are also happy to treat Hope's eye to make sure she's as comfortable and well-cared as is possible. Hope is a non-shedding girl and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic mixes available. She has a gorgeous coat and once it loses the matts and dirt of the shelter and has the benefit of great nutrition...it will become the cottony-soft and silky hair of her breed mixes. Hope will always require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of Salmon Oil will help) to keep her hair healthy and matt-free. Hope will arrive on transport in Boulder on 7/7/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
