[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Cuteness is a wonderful girl, and 9years old so she has lots of feisty years ahead of her. The only reason we considered giving her up is so that she can find a loving home to people who can afford to give her the treatment she needs so that she can live a more comfortable life. She had an ectopic uterer which can be fixed but we cannot afford the surgery. She had two seizures in the last month. She has weak knees, but it doesn't stop her from going up and down the stairs and running around. It is with a heavy heart that I post this, but I know it is best for cuteness.

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-29-00595Zippy (male)
Zippy is an incredibly sweet, cuddly and lovable, 11-year-old, 11-pound, male, Poodle looking for a loving guardian. Poor Zippy was found wandering stray, without tags or micro-chip, emaciated, dirty, matted to the skin, and with such bad teeth that his whole mouth was infected. Luckily, he was taken in by the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control Rescue Group. Zippy has an enlarged heart and is almost blind. But, he's living in a loving foster home where he gets along with all the other cats and dogs. He received the TLC and dental care he needed and he's got the most delightfully happy disposition. His tail is always happily wagging and he has a smile on his face. Due to his poor eye sight, he can't do stairs, but he lets anyone pick him up and carry him. He is surprisingly energetic, wiggly and playful. But, he's happy to snuggle with you on the couch to watch tv, or walk over and put his adorable head in your lap and he loves to be pet. It doesn't appear that Zippy knows any formal commands. He is crate-trained and doing well with his housebreaking if he gets out every few hours. Zippy is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt Zippy, please contact his foster mom Charlie at email@example.com or 773-743-5760. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-28-00155Dylan (male)
Dylan is 10 this Halloween. He has been with me since he was 8 weeks. He was hit by a car when he was 4 months old but healed wonderfully but it has caused him to be a little sensitive to fast movements and loud noises. We have moved several times and he has adjusted to every home including living in a condo in Chicago to the warm weather of Tennessee. He is truly a great little dog but we have issues with him and our daughter. She is too active and doesn't understand how sensitive he is, therefore, she has scared him and he has bit her out of protecting himself. He needs a home with either older children 12+ or a mature companion with no small children. He will become your best friend overnight. Bad habits: He isn't the best walker, he wants to pee on every shred of grass so you don't get far without stopping every moment. He has anxiety when you leave so I suggest putting him in a crate when your gone until you feel comfortable letting him out (he has scratched our door moldings). He is 95% good about using the bathroom outside but sometimes he will random poop. His loves: He will want to sleep on the foot of your bed to watch over you and protect you while you sleep. He is a lap dog and loves any type of attention. He does like to lick your legs if you let him but I don't let him but my husband does. He doesn't fetch but likes to run around with a dog toy when you come home. He is good at taking baths and we blow dry his hair. He eats dog food and doesn't eat scraps at all. On occasion we will give him a piece of cheese but he isn't going to eat food you drop. He likes to go outside and sit in the sun but only if your outside. We love him and want him to be happy but he is wearing a muzzle and we have another new baby in his life and we don't want to put him down because he bites again. Please help us find a good home. He is really healthy and you would think he was 6 or so. He has tons of life to live and I want him to find his soul mate. Please Please come meet him if your interested. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-17-00028Bronco (male)
Bronco is a 5 yr old pure bred Standard Poodle. He was given up by his owner because they said he was too much energy for them. We don't believe he has had much exposure to new people or new environments in his life, so we are working on getting him more socialized and comfortable in unfamiliar situations. We are looking for a special adopter for him, as he will need a lot of patience and continued socialization. He is an escape artist so a fenced yard is actually not preferable in his case, as he can easily jump a 6 foot fence. We would prefer a strong, but gentle leader who will be able to provide him enough exercise in a safe manner. Due to his nervous nature we think he would do best in an all adult home. Please keep in mind that Bronco will need regular grooming to keep him comfortable and healthy, which includes routine brushing and professional grooming. Bronco's adoption fee of $275 goes toward the cost of his vetting, training and care. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the 'Adoption Process' tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested ( as appropriate), fecal tested, and microchipped. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-03-00266King (male)
[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Smart, Intelligent Purebred Poodle looking for a great home. He is such a wonderful lap dog he is just looking for love and affection. Provides great house protection because he will bark if any stranger comes near your house. He is currently in a home with 3 small children and though he has never attacked them, I have seen him nip if he feels threatened which is why I rated him good with adults. I did witness him have one seizure and took him to the vet who said he may have another or he may never have another. So far so good. Other than that no other health concerns. This dog is sure to make any dog lover happy! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-15-00520Mindy (female)
Mindy is an adorable, sweet and a little nervous three-year-old, eight-pound silver Poodle looking for a loving guardian. Mindy might not have been well-treated in her past home. Hopefully her new caretaker will make up for her sad past. And, then her former human dumped her at Chicago Animal Care and Control. Mindy knows the command 'sit' and she dances for treats. She enjoys the company of other dogs, but would probably do best in a home with adults and teens and not little children. Mindy is healthy, de-wormed, heartworm-tested, up-to-date on vaccines, and will be micro-chipped and spayed upon adoption. If you are interested in adopting Mindy, please fill in the online application at http://famousfidorescue.com/rescueforms/machform/view.php?id=26727 and follow up by contacting Gloria at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-907-0305. Her adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescues of Famous Fido's. The rescue has dogs of all sizes and ages looking for loving guardians. They spend their days at 5430 N. Clark Street in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. Make an appointment to stop in and meet some of these lovable souls. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-11-00451Sandy (female)
This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. We got Sandy when she was three to four months old. She was easy to potty train, and to heel on a leash. She can give paw, and then 'other paw' if commanded as such. She will sit and stay in familiar surroundings or in surroundings around areas she is unsure of. She is not good around other animals, kids and strangers. She is appears to be untrusting of everyone except for me. I have grandchildren who she is used to but if anyone, outside of me, including my grandchildren happen to startle her when she is asleep she is very upset and growls and barks. Sandy was seven on April 1st. While she has an agressive temperament especially with strangers (which does not allow my grandchildren to bring friends into the house(, she has never bitten anyone but she has snapped as though she will. I can take her to 4th of July fireworks with crowds of people and other animals and she is like a show dog. She's an enigma for sure. I must give her up though because I cannot be worried about my grandchildren and their friends. Her vet is Dr. Amon of Animal House in St. Charles and she is up to date on shots. I took her in for a little cyst that he said was infected (dime sized) a few days ago. He shaved area and gave me an antibiotic which she is presently on. If I take her to a shelter they will certainly put her down because of her inability to cohabitate with other dogs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-10-00224Violet (female)
Violet sat unwanted at a shelter for a long time. Her coat was all matted and wet. We got her saved from the shelter and a volunteer clipped her all down so she's comfortable and looks a million times better. She will be a DOLL when the coat grows out a little! She is very quiet and mellow. Crate trained walks on a leash and loves quiet attention. She is fine with the other dogs, although indifferent to them. She can hog the food bowl. She weighs 18 pounds and we think is about 2 years old. She will be spayed soon and then available. She would be perfect for an older couple who doesn't want an energetic puppy but wants a sweet companion instead. Contract and current or recent past vets name and number required to adopt. (Less)

Poodle Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Poodles come in several different varieties which are classified based on size. Generally, smaller Poodle varieties tend to be more hyperactive while larger Poodles are more mellow. Poodles love people and are good with children and other dogs. Poodles are easy to train.
