Rescue Me ID: 16-09-25-00206Maggie May (female)
Meet Maggie May!! Labradoodle Mix Approx. 55 lbs. Approx. 1 1/2 yrs old Maggie May is a beautiful Lab/Poodle Mix who came to the rescue Heartworm positive from AL. She is currently undergoing her heartworm treatment and has 2 weeks left on her 'crate rest' before she can become fully active again. Maggie May is a sweet girl who loves people and does well with other dogs and cats. She is very active and will make a great family dog. Once she is done with her HW treatment, she would make a great running partner and loves playing. She still has a lot of young dog play left in her. Maggie May has gone through the majority of her HW treatment, but she is in need of a new family who will foster her for the remaining 2 weeks of her treatment and then adopt her once the 2 weeks are over. During these last 2 weeks of treatment, Maggie needs to be quiet and rest. After the 2 weeks are over, Maggie can resume normal dog activity. She will be retested for HW again in 6-8 months by the rescue and if positive, the rescue would again treat her. For more detailed information on the treatment or Maggie May's current status, please email Tammy at firstname.lastname@example.org Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

We are looking for a loving home for our senior dog. We live in Arlington Heights, IL. She is a Maltese-Poodle, born on July 20, 2002, and is in very good health. She was raised in a loving home with four children, who are now grown and no longer living at home. Our schedules involve travel and we are needing to board her more and more. We would love to find a senior citizen who is at home most of the day/night, who loves dogs, is looking for a pet that will be a loving companion. Any help in finding her a home would be greatly appreciated. She comes with all she needs (leash, collar, food bowls etc.) Maura Wolfe 847-648-8889

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-30-00263Ellie (female)
Ellie is a doting companion who's elderly owner just passed away. Ellie is currently staying at the vet kennel in her hometown of Sterling, IL, where she is a favorite among the kennel staff. We don't know her exact breed, but based on looks and characteristics, we believe she is a mix of the rare Dandie Dinmont Terrier and a Poodle. She is low to the ground with short legs and a long body with a strong head like the Dandie, but her coat is softer/less wiry and her eyes are more Poodle-like. Ellie is non-aggressive and moderately playful among other dogs. She is very devoted and spent the last 10 years by her Human Mom's side. She is fully house-trained and prefers adults over children. She hopes to find a home where her new owner(s) are home all day and she can sit at their feet or on their lap, go for daily walks or run around in a backyard for play. (Less)

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Why hello there! You look like you could be searching for a devoted, protective, cuddly little furball to call your new doggie friend! You are in luck; I am Chandler and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 5-year-old, 15-pound poodle mix, and I am as cute as can be! I have rich, toffee-colored hair, and a unique, one-of-a-kind smile: when I smile, I curl my tongue up. It makes all my human friends at Fetching Tails laugh and they tell me I am such a handsome boy! Fetching Tails saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, the big high-intake shelter in the city. It was loud and overwhelming for a little dog like me, so I needed some time to unwind and come out of my shell in my foster home. Foster momma made sure to give me space so I could feel safe and trust her. Now I am ready to find my forever home and I have some ideas about what I think would be a perfect match. I would love a quiet home without young children. I just prefer a calmer lifestyle and I think excited kiddos would be a bit overwhelming for me. Once I am settled into a place and know my new humans I am fiercely loyal, but I need to take some time to get used to new people so I hope my new parents are patient while I figure out my new environment. Some of my favorite activities include playing with my toys, going for walks around the neighborhood, and receiving shoulder rubs. Foster mommy works from home and I like having her around, but she can also leave me alone for up to six hours when she needs to go out and take care of business. When mom has to leave to leave the house, I am ok to free roam while she is gone. I am still learning that it is not ok to 'pee mark' in the house; I have been wearing a belly band to teach me not to mark in the house and am getting better, but will need continued practice to master this. It's a project we can work on together, right? Right! I am also content to be your one and only fur friend; I am fine with small dogs when we are introduced properly but I am not a fan of big dogs. My foster mommy doesn't have other dogs and I am perfectly happy to entertain momma and myself and don't really need another dog to keep my company! I am a very loving dog once I know I can trust my people and will be your devoted companion. If I sound like I could be the little guy for you, please get in touch with Fetching Tails Foundation soon; I can't wait to settle into my adoptive home and know that I will be safe and loved forever! XOXO, Chandler If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! |Rescue Me ID: 16-06-18-00074Picalina (female)|
We do not know much about this precious pooch, but we do know she is as cute as a button! The family that dropped her off at a large shelter said they had her only for one week who knows what her story is. They said she was a Golden Bichon(???) and that she was 5 years old. Who knows, she has a poodle like face and golden ringlets on her head, a longer body of a dachsund, well we will say she is just unique. As far as her age, her teeth are nice and white, we think she may be in the 3 year old range. But, besides those details she is a happy girl that was very stressed at the shelter, and who can blame her she had been tossed around quite a bit in the past few weeks. She is settling into her foster home nicely, the first meetings with the other dogs she was fearful but now she is great with everyone, affectionate with us. She is housebroken( will need the same reinforcement we do here to make sure she understand pottying outside at her new home). We are recommending an adult home, or one without really small kids, she may get nervous with them. Her adoption fee is $225. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-26-00686Rizzo (male)
Meet Rizzo! He is a 2 year old, male, 15lb large Miniature Poodle. He would love a home with a fenced yard or an adopter that can provide him plenty of exercise. He loves his toys and is great at playing fetch. We are looking for an experienced adopter for him who can work in building his confidence in new situations with new people. His adopter will need to commit to working with a professional trainer to work on his fear issues which come across as aggression initially. Because of his fear we are looking to place him in a home without children. He prefers women over men, but in time will warm up to men. Once he trusts you he is a huge love bug and loves snuggling. He gets along with other calm, self confident, non-reactive dogs and cats. He is very smart and already knows some commands- like sit and paw. He does not like to be crated, but has been non-destructive in his foster home when left uncrated. Are you the perfect family for him? Application and reference checks are required. Rizzo's adoption fee of $250 helps cover the cost of his vet care. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (age appropriate), fecal tested and/or dewormed, and microchipped. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-28-00241Iverson (male)
Meet adoptable Iverson, a 14 year old, male toy poodle. He would do best in an adult-only home because of some anxiety he has while he gets used to new people. He just needs a little time and patience to get to know his humans. Once he's adjusted, he's the most easygoing gentleman you'll meet! He's been great with his chihuahua foster brothers and would do well in a home with other furry friends. Because of his age and size, Iverson would do best in a home with older children and adults. He loves car rides and a good walk every now and then. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for adoption information!
