Rescue Me ID: 17-06-08-00432Doogie (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

He had hip surgery about a year and a half ago, so dysplasia is not an issue, but it does affect his level of physical activities. He's more of a leash walk kind of dog, he is currently being fostered on a farm which turns out is NOT ideal as he likes to lunge and chase everything. He can't catch them but his goofy heart refuses to give up! He is an incredibly loyal dog who likes men fine but his devotion lies with the lady of the house. He's good with children but a child free home might be a better fit. He's done very well with his foster sisters a lab and a cocker spaniel. A week after arriving at his foster home he developed a (woman's) ... (Read More)fist sized knot where his back left ankle should be. After ex rays the vet felt it was an abscess, but with no evident cause could not explain it's appearance. A round of anti inflammatory and antibiotic meds were given which cleared up the fever and spread of infection but nothing worked to bring it to a head. It no longer appears to cause him discomfort but further medical treatment may be required. His ideal forever home would be single story,CARPETED, cat free, other dog[s] a plus, and someone who is financially able to invest in what will likely be ongoing medical issues. His adoption fee will be mailed to the vet you use and put towards his future medical needs. (Less)

lnteresting Poodle Trivia Low-Cost Kansas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. Poodles do not shed and are popular for breeding with other dogs to produce a relatively non-allergenic hybrid. Poodles have been used as circus performers. The name Poodle comes from a German word describing someone who likes the water. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
