 Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Merry was found by a good Samaritan that took her in before contacting House With A Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary. They in turn contacted us so together we are helping this grand old lady. She is a miniature poodle, weighing about 14 lbs. and has been diagnosed with cancer. She has had one surgery to remove mammary tumors on her left side, which found the cancer and was spayed. She will need additional surgery if called for to remove the right side mammaries as well as a cyst on her right side. Her eyes were not treated for dry eye, which now is to late so effectively she has very limited eyesight. However, through all the pain Merry has ... (Read More)suffered, she is a loving dog that deserves a warm bed, kind heart and lots of love. We know it takes a special person to adopt a senior dog, especially one with ongoing health issues but if you are interested in helping with Merry please contact us, you won't regret loving this super girl.     What a show stopper little Sheba is. Her chocolate color almost looks black. Her size is deceiving as she is only 6 lbs. just like the others. She is peppy and fun to be around. Even after being spayed she was up and ready to go. She too is housetrained as well as trained to pee pads if needed and does walk on a leash. A darling girl just waiting to find that special someone.

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-12-00076Boone (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Darling Boone came to us a couple of years ago having seizures. We discovered he has epilepsy and needs daily medication, which took some time to get the right dosage so he doesn't have multiple seizures a week. He has now gone over 2 months without a seizure, yeah. He came from a puppymill in Nebraska and was not treated very nice so he needs to get to know you before coming to you. He is a good boy and would do well with either a single older person or couple. He is good at the vets and groomer but has never been around children and because of his health issue we feel it wouldn't be fair to compromise him by making him adjust once ... (Read More)again to the activities of a child. He loves to cuddle, walks on a leash and is all around a good boy just looking for that right home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-12-00071Ginger (female)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Ginger is a red toy poodle that came to us from her breeder. She is only 6 lbs. of pure delight and oh so willing to share your life. She has been housetrained to both go outside and on a pee pad as well as has learned to walk on a leash. She has not been around children so we don't think it would be fair for her to have to adjust to small ones now. Her bag is packed and she is ready to snuggle with her person, is that you?

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This delightful boy has had a rough time of it lately. After serving as a companion to an autistic individual for years...his person passed away. That's when Oreo found himself in a pickle. He was shuffled to several people and found himself banished to the outdoors...then horribly abused. Abused so badly that the vet had to perform surgery on him. We originally thought he was coming into our hospice program...but this guy is a SURVIVOR! He not only healed...he's thriving. He is arriving to us to find his forever home where he will be loved and cherished again. If you are interested in adopting Oreo please reach out to us. Oreo is vetted: ... Rescue Me ID: 17-12-06-00446Frankie and Jackie (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

2017 hasn't been a great year for brothers Jackie and Frankie. After losing both of their human parents they were dumped in a high kill shelter. They spent several days there waiting to see if someone would adopt them as a pair because they're brothers ...and they only had each other now. Several days later they were transferred to rescue. When they arrived they were terrified...so much so that Jackie fled transport and stayed on the run for 2 weeks. Finally, after an exhaustive search and what seemed like the world watching them, we were able to trap him on someone's porch. It ended a 10 day long stretch of no sightings at all. Frankie ... (Read More)and Jackie are now safe in a foster home. They've decompressed and fallen into the routine of the other pups. They're part of a family but they so deserve their very own family. 2017 may not have started off well...but we're hoping it will end well for them in a new home. What you need to know about the boys: We think they are 8-9 years old. They have lived with seniors and would probably really enjoy the company of seniors (or established adults). They do not seem to mind the company of a cat - ignoring them, actually. They get along with other dogs. They have been brothers for years and we want them to be adopted together. Jackie is a pug mix - we're not sure with what breed but he has long legs like a super model. Frankie is probably a poodle/shih tzu. He will require occasional grooming. They are housebroken and well behaved. Both boys are very friendly. They do enjoy sleeping in bed with their person. And do know....they LOVE skittles. Now we have not been known to feed candy to pups at the rescue ...but we were told that they love them and we were able to trap Jackie when he was on the run with skittles! We would love for the boys to have a fenced yard for safety reasons with Jackie. Both boys are vaccinated, wormed, heartworm tested, microchipped, neutered and on preventatives for flea/tick/heartworm. Their adoption fee is $600. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Miss GoGo is a gem of a dog. While she is 10 she has been lovingly taken care of and would love to find another home to spend time in. However, she has been diagnosed with heart issues so is on medication for it that will need to continue as well as going back to the vet to be checked on to see if there is any changes. She also will only be adopted with her brother, Sassy as they are a bonded pair.

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sassy came to us from his previous home and has been lovingly cared for. Sadly, life sometimes makes it impossible to keep those we love so we took both Sassy and his sister, GoGo in. Sassy is 10 years young and did lose one eye to glaucoma. He loves to be groomed and is a happy boy. He must be adopted with his sister though.

lnteresting Poodle Trivia Low-Cost Maryland Spay & Neuter Clinics
Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. Poodles do not shed and are popular for breeding with other dogs to produce a relatively non-allergenic hybrid. Poodles have been used as circus performers. The name Poodle comes from a German word describing someone who likes the water. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
