Rescue Me ID: 18-04-30-00205Yoshi (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

THIS POST IS CURRENT - YOSHI IS STILL AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INQUIRING ABOUT HIM. OUR PROCESS: APPLICATION VET REFERENCE CHECK HOME CHECK TRIAL PERIOD IF YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO WHERE HE IS BEING FOSTERED ADOPTION PAPERWORK AND PAY THE ADOPTION FEE IF THE TRIAL PERIOD IS SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION FOR FOR ADOPTION: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/E53LXc4bsw6r997fuK4 We are looking to place Yoshi within a 2.5 to 3 hour radius of Washington, DC where he is being fostered. FIRST AND FOREMOST, YOSHI NEEDS TO GO TO A HOME THAT HAS AT LEAST ONE OTHER YOUNG CONFIDENT DOG THAT CAN SERVE AS HIS ... (Read More)'GUIDE DOG' AND WILL HELP HIM OVERCOME HIS FEARS AND WILL HELP HIM LEARN HOW TO 'DOG'. HE WILL ALSO NEED EXPERIENCED DOG OWNERS WHO CAN HELP HIM WORK THROUGH SOME ISSUES THAT WILL REQUIRE TIME AND PATIENCE. HE WILL NEED POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT - HE'S ALREADY HAD ENOUGH NEGATIVE IN HIS SHORT LIFETIME. Yoshi was rescued from a high kill facility in Okinawa, Japan. He traveled stateside to a new family in late January but he just returned to rescue as the adoption was not a good fit for him. His family was not home enough to help him with his issues. With work, school, and after school activities, Yoshi was not getting the people time that he needed to overcome the issues that he has. Yoshi is fearful of hands and leashes. He can be quite anxious at times and flighty. He will urinate submissively when he feels cornered or trapped. His crate is his 'safe place' but he also loves to run around the yard. The hard part is getting him back into the house and so that is where other dogs in the home come into play. Yoshi has just recently started a medication called Prozac to help with his anxiety and we are already seeing a positive difference. Gender: male neutered Size: about 25 pounds but is underweight and needs to gain a few pounds and will likely top out in the 28 TO 30 pound range. Breed: Poodle mix. Not sure what he's mixed with but likely something bigger. He could also be pure breed but we cannot claim that with any certainty. Low to non-shedding dog. No guarantees that he won't shed because we do not know what he is mixed with. Age: 1 to 1.5 years old Vaccines: combination, rabies Micro-chip - yes neutered - yes heartworm status - negative on heart worm preventative and flea/tick preventative. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AND ONLY SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IF YOU HAVE ALL OF THE 'MUST HAVES'. BECAUSE YOSHI HAS ALREADY HAD ONE FAILED ADOPTION, WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT FIT FOR HIM SO THAT HE CAN BE SUCCESSFUL. Yoshi needs: 1. another young, playful confident dog in the house. Preferably a dog that is about the same size as him or larger. He may be too rough with a dog that is substantially smaller than him. 2. stand alone house in a non-busy area. He'd not enjoy living in an apartment, condo or townhouse. It's too busy for him. He would not do well in a high traffic/congested area. He startles easily at loud noises and too much activity. 3. fenced yard (physical fence) 4. no small children in the house including those that visit on a regular basis. He could probably tolerate 10+. He's fine with children but doesn't really like a lot of noise or fast movements. It stresses him out. 5. someone around a fair bit. Although Yoshi is crate-trained, he needs people time and staying home alone for hours and hours every day will not help him overcome his issues. 6. active family willing to get him out for a couple of decently long (1+ miles) each day. While he does fine in the back yard, he needs to experience new things to build confidence and he'd not get that just running around a back yard. 7. Patient, dog experienced owner that can help Beau overcome his fears and become more confident. He will urinate when he is very fearful especially when he has no 'escape route'. He is somewhat fearful of hands and leashes although we still go out for 2 x 2 mile walks/daily. He LOVES to go on walks and is starting to relax and enjoy sniffing and exploring a bit instead of focusing on the hands. It is going to take months for Yoshi to overcome his issues and he may never become a happy-go-lucky dog although we are already seeing glimmers of hope. He needs POSITIVE reinforcement. He's had too much negative reinforcement and mistreatment in his previous life before he was rescued. Adoption fee $400. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-16-00363Puff (male)

Poodle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Puff was a magic dragon but in this case, he is also a beautiful miniature poodle. This doll weighs 9 pounds and is thought to be about 5 years old. He is blind in both eyes but can quickly learn his territory and absolutely LOVES to go for walks. He has plenty of pep in his step. Although it is not recommended he be homed with small children he would do alright with older ones that understand giving a dog his space. We don't know how well he would do around cats but given the vision issue, we don't really think they would be a problem. Puff is a very happy, active boy. He is an absolute love bug that loves his humans deeply and cherishes ... (Read More)being held and doted on. Puffs adoption fee is $350. He is current on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped heart worm negative and up to date on flea, tick and heart worm prevention. This boy wants desperately to make his home on your couch. Don't you have room in your heart and on your lap for him? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-26-00092Frankie (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My Story Meet Frankie! We believe Frankie is 8ish years old. He came into rescue when both of his people died within 11 months of one another...leaving him and his brother orphans. Sadly, they were then dumped at a high kill shelter. They were terrified ...and for the first time - alone in the world. Frankie is used to living in an adult household with seniors. He doesn't seem to care much for children so we would like to see him adopted into a quiet, adult only household. He is sweet and cuddly...and grateful for any amount of affection bestowed upon him. He gets along well with other dogs and ignores cats. He likes to sleep in bed under ... (Read More)your blankets. And...he LOVES treats!! Frankie's perfect home would have a fenced in yard - but it's not a requirement. He is bonded to his brother, Jackie Boy (pug mix - who you can see at www.hillhounds.org) so his home would have to include enough love for two wonderful boys. Frankie is up to date on vaccinations, wormed, neutered and microchipped. Frankie's coat is generally longer but he was groomed back this past winter. His upkeep will include regular grooming. His adoption fee is $350. Our adoption application and information can be found at www.hillhounds.org (Less)

Other areas may be considered if we have someone that can accomplish a home visit. Griffon: male neutered about 35 pounds approximately 2 years old. He was picked up as a stray with no prior history. Breed mix is a guess. Energy level: high. Needs an active family and plenty of exercise. Good with other dogs ... Rescue Me ID: 18-01-12-00076Boone (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Darling Boone came to us a couple of years ago having seizures. We discovered he has epilepsy and needs daily medication, which took some time to get the right dosage so he doesn't have multiple seizures a week. He has now gone over 2 months without a seizure, yeah. He came from a puppymill in Nebraska and was not treated very nice so he needs to get to know you before coming to you. He is a good boy and would do well with either a single older person or couple. He is good at the vets and groomer but has never been around children and because of his health issue we feel it wouldn't be fair to compromise him by making him adjust once ... (Read More)again to the activities of a child. He loves to cuddle, walks on a leash and is all around a good boy just looking for that right home. (Less)

Miss GoGo is a gem of a dog. While she is 10 she has been lovingly taken care of and would love to find another home to spend time in. However, she has been diagnosed with heart issues so is on medication for it that will need to continue as well as going back to the vet to be checked on to see if there is any changes. She also will only be adopted with her brother, Sassy as they are a bonded pair.

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sassy came to us from his previous home and has been lovingly cared for. Sadly, life sometimes makes it impossible to keep those we love so we took both Sassy and his sister, GoGo in. Sassy is 10 years young and did lose one eye to glaucoma. He loves to be groomed and is a happy boy. He must be adopted with his sister though.
