Rescue Me ID: 16-11-25-00049Lucky (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Malnourished

Lucky will be arriving in the Washington DC area in late December. We are taking applications for him now but actually meeting him will not be possible until he arrives. Lucky doesn't look all that great right now but it's because he was just rescued from a hoarding/breeding situation and he looks 1000% better than he did last week. Lucky is a red colored miniature Poodle weighing 11 pounds right now and is estimated to be in the 3 to 4 year old range. He is a bit underweight and will likely top out in the 15 pound range. For a dog that has been through so much, he has an amazing personality - very happy, very loving....and he is ... (Read More)thoroughly enjoying the pampering he is getting in his foster home. When we rescued Lucky, he had about 10 pounds of urine and feces soaked dreadlocks on him. About half way through his initial shave, we discovered he was missing 1/2 of his rear right leg (amputated below the knee). He had been moving around so well we just didn't suspect he did not have all four legs. Lucky moves around with absolutely no problems being a tri-pawd. The injury is old and has already healed up. No need for any additional surgery as he seems to use the partial leg for balance. Miraculously, Lucky tested negative for heart worms.... He is currently on antibiotics for a double ear infection. He'll be getting all of his vaccines, a micro-chip and a neuter and dental within the next 2 weeks. He will be fully vetted by the time he goes to his new home. Lucky is working on house and crate training but we should have him good to go in a couple of weeks. He was living in filthy conditions so living in a house is new to him. He has not been 'kid checked' yet or cat checked and I will update this post once we get more information. How we do things: Application first. We will look at all applications and determine what would be the best possible fit for Lucky. Vet reference check. If you have pets now or have had pets in the past, we will need the name and contact information of the vet clinic/vet you use. Home Visit/meet with the family members. If you are interested in Lucky, please email me at mcmahod@yahoo.com or through this site and I will happy to answer questions and send you an application form. No phone calls please. Adoption fee is $500. We will be paying for all of his veterinary care and transport to the DC area. I am looking to place Lucky within a 2.5 hour radius of Washington, DC. Other locations may be possible if we have a volunteer in your area to do a home visit. We do have volunteers in VA, southern PA, Western WV, eastern Delaware and northern NC (Less)

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Boone came to us from a puppymill and had not been treated for his epilepsy. He is now on medication given daily and is doing wonderfully. It is low cost, only about $15.00 a month and you get this wonderful tiny toy poodle in return. He only weighs around 5 to 6 lbs., depending on when he ate last. He adores girl dogs and most males but if he meets another dominant male he won't back down. He is not aggressive by any means but will stand up for himself. He is currently in a foster home with plenty of experience with toy poodles and has opened up and become quite the social butterfly. If interested in giving ... lnteresting Poodle Trivia Low-Cost Maryland Spay & Neuter Clinics
Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. Poodles do not shed and are popular for breeding with other dogs to produce a relatively non-allergenic hybrid. The name Poodle comes from a German word describing someone who likes the water. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
