Rescue Me ID: 14-10-25-00396Semore Bradley (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Once again our dog population was low and we were able to make a trip south, to a high kill area, and managed to fit 37 dogs and one tiny Siamese kitten into the Yukon XL!!! Rarely is there much vet work done on the dogs we choose so we have the normal expenses of getting them ready for adoption on top of the shelter pull fees, gas, one night hotel stay and lots of coffee so a trip costs us about $800.00. However, this trip was sponsored by Regain Physical Therapy!!! They are located at 3819 Monroe Ave., Pittsford, NY and are a new business with a new facebook site and we'd love to have you facebook them, 'Like' them, and give them a ... (Read More)shout out of thanks! If you know any other businesses that might be willing to sponsor a southern rescue mission, please let us know. Not one dog complained about the long ride and all have settled in nicely. Many of them seemed to have understood, right away, that they were now safe in our Dog House with fresh blankets, lots of Science Diet food, automatic waterers and even toys! It gets a little confusing when getting files ready for so many, so if breed, size, age seems questionable with the photos shown, please let us know. We are doing the best we can to save as many as we can. We so appreciate your understanding and willingness to adopt a dog we know little about that would have been dead, within a few days, If they had not come here. We always test out of towners for heart worm. Semore was born about May 21, 1999. Yes, that is what we were told. He's doing wonderful for his age and will adore his next human as, I'm sure, he adored his last. Whatever happened that landed him at a high kill pound I just can't imagine. He is doing well with the other dogs and sure needs that one special human to come along that will long him and guide him over the Rainbow Bridge when the time comes. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-18-00529Santanio (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Santanio was born about February 20, 2013 and weighs about 13 lbs. He is with us because his human mom was leaving her home of abuse. She left once before, but left the pets so she came back, but this time she decided to get them out first. Little Santa is wonderful with other dogs and came with a cat that he was best buds with. He was good in the car and has been wonderful with everyone he has met. However, he is a little shy at first meeting, maybe because of the environment he came from. He's a fun, happy, little thing that doesn't hesitate to get dirty and run with the big dogs!

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-13-00801Pru Bonadio (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Bonadio Group, 171 Sully's Trail, Pittsford, NY sponsored the transport that brought 40 dogs north out of a high kill pound in TN. How high kill???? Well, while Katie was busy making the very difficult choices she has to make down there, she accidentally entered the wrong door and there was Emma a healthy, young, medium sized, black girl who was on a table, tail just a wagging not minding that her arm was being shaved, while enjoying all the attention she was getting from a couple of the staff. Little did she realize that the needle that was now 2 inches from her arm was going to stop her heart from beating and her tail would never ... (Read More)wag again. The procedure was STOPPED and Emma was immediately loaded in the truck! We also took George who was next in line because they couldn't afford to treat him and he was painfully thin. We are working on George and hope that it is only worms and we'll be able to make him better. He is one really sweet boy and we love him already. We also took a pretty, really sweet, Cocker named Sammy who has massive ear infections, one eye is turned rather inside out and the other looks odd so he will need some very special vet care, but we have him in the best foster home for the blind and he's happy as can be. There are 37 others with their own stories, but these are the three heart breakers so far. The staff at his shelter do the best they can and truly love these dogs but their resources are incredibly limited. Thank you Bonadio Group, an accounting, business and financial services firm providing audit, tax and business consulting services, for making this trip, which runs about $800.00, possible!!!!! All dogs from the south are heart worm tested, but they cannot be tested until they are about 6 months old. So, if you choose a puppy from this group you must keep that puppy on heart worm 'preventative' at least through it's 7th month just in case it is carrying the larvae. As for Pru, don't tell her she is older, she doesn't want to hear it. When you look into her eyes you will smile and forget her age too. You'll want to love her to pieces for as long as she has left. She was born about August 23, 2002 and weighs 15 lbs. She is wonderful with other dogs and did fine on the ride here. She is wiggly, happy, and ready to snuggle. She will be getting a dental soon so be ready to see those pearly whites! This is all we know so far, we'll be learning as we go. (Less)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Donnie is approximately 3 years old. He is a very good loving dog. Donnie loves attention. He is very friendly and would really be happiest with people around frequently. He is a very smart dog. Donnie is a little bit of an attention hog especially if another dog gets attention and he doesn't. He came from a home with an elderly person and got a little over weight. He is doing well to take it off now that he is active. He would love to go for long walks so if you need a walking partner look no further. Must be over 21 to adopt. References and vet reference if available. Home check mandatory.

Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. Poodles do not shed and are popular for breeding with other dogs to produce a relatively non-allergenic hybrid. Poodles have been used as circus performers. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
