Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00749Sasha (female)
Sasha is a loving dog. She does great with older kids, but hasn't been doing great with my 1 year old because my 1 year old doesn't understand to stop bothering the dog. I have 2 babies and as hard as this is for us, we are not giving Sasha the attention she needs. Having her with 2 babies so young is too difficult for us as my husband works a lot. She is cuddly (has slept with us every night for the 6 years we have had her) and she also likes to play. She has accidents in the house when she is not on a good walking schedule and she barks when people come up to the house (mailman, etc).

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-13-00679Shelly Schnauzer (female)
Shelly was born about August 12, 2003 and weighs about 17 lbs. Our vet would have guessed her about 9, but the mill where she came from thought she was older, she sure doesn't act like she was born in 2003. She sometimes likes to go by the name of Sophie. She looks very much like a Schnauzer but there is some curl to her fur so we guessed Poodle as a second breed. She is very sweet, wonderful with the other dogs and does need another dog in her next home. She is also very attached to her humans and we'd like to find a home for her where she the humans are not gone for long hours. She has been with an infant and was just fine. She did come to us from a puppy mill, but she has left those days, and memories, behind her. She is house trained, but may have an accident now and then, she just has one of those little bladders and it would be helpful to have a potty floor pad handy when she really has to go and you are not around. Shelly Sophie has had her last dental, she has no teeth left but eats just fine. She does just fine in a car and would like a ride out of here and into her new home! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-08-00637Astro (male)
Throughout his whole life Astro has been able to meet tough times with a smile on his face. He is an energetic and very loyal terrier who will use all of his wits to figure out what you want from him and please you the best he can. Astro came to us at around the age of two from a small shelter in New York and it was obvious that he had some emotional scaring from his past life. As a former southern stray, Astro remained pretty anxious but quickly bonded to our family through fetch (a favorite game of his) and lots of veggies which he loves eating! He showed off his smarts by quickly picking up all sorts of tricks that he happily shows off to anybody! Astro's love of walking soon showed as he went on long walks and shorter hikes with us at local parks. He loves meeting new dog friends, especially little ones who he can baby! Astro enjoys spending his days relaxing with his friends or having a calm walk, so active little children might not be the best fit for him. Astro's anxiety around strangers never fully went away and he tends to try to protect his closest friends by lots of barking. He can warm up to men but warms up to women quicker. Astro is a smart dog who needs a home that can help him heal further from his abusive past. Do you have a spot in your home for Astro? Give him a chance! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-01-00217Mickey (male)
Meet Mickey! Mickey may be 8 years old, but he has the energy of a much younger dog! He loves to run and play, especially in the snow and he thoroughly enjoys a good game of fetch! Mickey lived a very happy life with his owner and another dog, until his owner passed away and he ended up at a high-kill shelter, separated from the only other dog he had ever known. His deceased owner's friend saved his life and took him home, but due to a personal situation she could no longer keep him and brought him to our shelter. Mickey is a lovable goof once he get to know you, but the process of meeting him can take a little while. He lived a very sheltered life in his previous home, so he can be very shy during initial introductions with new people, and it takes a few meetings for him to feel fully comfortable with a new person. Once he bonds with someone, it is for life, and he will be their partner in crime and the best friend they have ever known. He just needs someone with enough patience and love to give him the second chance at a home that he deserves. He would do best in an adult only home. He may be able to live with one other dog, as long as they are introduced properly, but we would prefer to place him as an only pet.
