Rescue Me ID: 16-05-04-00242Toby (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Toby! This adorable little guy is in search of his forever home. Toby is a 12lb Poodle/Terrier mix who is estimated to be 7-8 years old. He does great with car rides and is learning the leash. He does well with his house training and enjoys playing in the yard and going to the park. Toby does well with other dogs close to his own age but does not do well with older dogs. He is great with kids and loves them but we recommend children 8+. He's a snuggler and very sweet with his humans. The best home for Toby would be a family that has time to spend with him playing, walking, and snuggling. He is not hyper but does enjoy playing outside ... (Read More)so we prefer a home with a fenced in yard. If you think you could be the right family for this wonderful little guy please email us for an application at (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-12-00373Dusty (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Dusty a 5 year old male poodle. Please read his bio and apply if you can be someone who can provide the environment he needs. Dusty is very loving but he also needs structure, exercise, and someone with familiarity with a fearful dog. He needs a handler experienced in socializing a dog later in life. Dusty prefers to be adopted out to a family with another dog. He is more confident with other dogs leading him. He weighs only 17lbs but sure has a large personality. He is very loving to his handler. He is smart, food motivated, and has great ability to learn and be trained. His back story- our guess is a dog who was used to breed or in ... (Read More)a puppy mill that was not socialized. When he got to the shelter he was sick, matted, and broken down. He had no idea how to be a dog. He was adopted by a loving couple but through life changes they had to give him back to us. Dusty is fearful of strangers. He needs a firm but understanding handler. Someone who can take him to get his energy out positively. Maybe some fearful fido classes outside or agility to boast confidence and give him a job. He prefers a quiet home without young children or the chaos of many people coming and going. He would need a fenced in yard to be able to safely play. An apartment would not work as he sometimes barks. Dusty does better with another dog in the house. We are looking for him to have a leader to show him the ropes. He has been fine with all the dogs larger than him that he has met. Dusty is at a foster home. His tendencies to guard out of fear are not showing up here and it has been several weeks. One thought could be because we have a pack mentality here 5 doggies together (and 3 kitties). He feels less fearful in this group. Dusty can react towards strangers if there are sudden movements, and things that move quickly (like cars). However this has improved with a confident handler. Dusty loves the person who gives him attention, care, and food. But he should work hard to earn certain things. He would do better not on the couch/bed until he shows he will not guard you out of fear. Do you have a quiet home where Dusty can be safe from his fears and strangers? Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Doogie and I'm an 8 year old Apricot colored Poodle/Shih Tzu mix who LOVES everyone! I am a calm and laid back guy who does well with kids, other dogs, and cats. My foster mom says I would make an awesome therapy dog. I am a PERFECT gentleman with very good manners. I know sit, stay, come, and will shake paws. I am housetrained, crate trained, walk well on a leash, and a great car rider. Oh and by the way, when the rescue took me in, I was very matted and needed to be shaved but my fur is growing back so when I get more fluffy, I will look even cuter if you can imagine that! Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I bet little Bacon would love to do tricks for you and in return receive a bacon treat. That might take a little bit of effort and patience , however Mister Bacon is a true rescue baby who was saved from a bad situation and he truly deserves to be loved and spoiled rotten for the rest of his life. He is about 1-2 years old and a male mix of Poodle and Parson Russell terrier. We rescued him and his siblings in March of 2016. Every one of them were filthy, apparently neglected and very shy and wary of people. Unfortunately Bacon broke his front leg about a week after being rescued. Then he broke his other leg and had to be in casts for about ... (Read More)three weeks. The vet believes that malnutrition was the cause for the broken legs. The casts are now removed and Bacon is running free at the rescue. He loves that. He gets along great with other dogs. He is still a shy dog, however I can handle him very well and there is no mean bone in his body. He will just need time to heal from his neglect. He is eating high quality puppy chow and gets calcium supplements. We are waiting on the next appointment to get him neutered. He is a cute little guy who will thrive with lots of TLC and attention. He just needs to realize that not all humans are mean people. Fenced in yard would be wonderful. Vet reference or home visit will be conducted before application can be approved. (Less)

Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. Poodles do not shed and are popular for breeding with other dogs to produce a relatively non-allergenic hybrid. Poodles have been used as circus performers. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
