Rescue Me ID: 15-07-01-00153Gypsy (female)

Poodle    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Gypsy is approx. 10years old. She is a rescued breeding dog. She had extensive dental work this past April which resulted in the extraction of 13 teeth. She requires a soft dental diet. Gypsy is a older girl who needs someone who wants to spend time with her. She enjoys ear rubs, lap time, and affection. She is a wonderful little dog who needs a safe happy home. Her deceased owner was 85 years old and showered her with affection before he lost his battle with cancer. I cannot take her in because my 8 year alpha female husky is not friendly towards any of my father's 3 dogs, so I am forced to find safe homes for them all.

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Beetlejuice (given name is Sandy) is an AKC registered miniature poodle. I have his papers available. He belonged to my father who just passed away 10 days ago. I am not able to take him, his mother, or the Belgian Shepherd since I have an 8 year old alpha female husky who does not care to have any other pets in our home. I am in dire need of a loving family home for this crazy little guy! He loves to play, walk, and cuddle. All of his shots are UTD. He gets monthly heartworm preventative (Trifexix), and is current. I am asking only for a safe and happy home for him!!

No Weight: Est 65 lbs Height: Est 26 ' What is my personality like? Jackson came to CPR in 2012. He had some weird behavioral issues and one of our employees at the time took him on. Jackson was thriving wonderfully until recently. Unfortunately, his owner got a new job where he was working long hours, which meant Jackson was spending a lot of time in his crate. As we all know, ... (Read More)doodles need exercise - and lots of it! Overall, Jackson is a sweet, affectionate dog. He does have a dominate side to him, so he needs a very strong owner who has experience. He has manners and is well trained but enforcing this takes a strong leader. Jackson knows sit and lay, he is house trained and crate trained. He would do best as an only dog, as he does not get along with most. He does okay with submissive large female dogs only. Jackson is also not a big fan of kids. He does great with strong adults. He is a happy and playful dog who loves to chase a tennis ball! Age: 2/24/2009 Who am I seeking? A very strong leader who has experience with dominant large dogs. A home where there is no other animals except him. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-24-00481Asha Morgan (female)

Poodle    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Meet Asha! Breed: Poodle Gender: Female Adoption Fee: $300 Date into Rescue: 5/18/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Asha's mom was surrendered to us by a hoarder. Only hours after her arrival, she gave birth. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: 2 lbs What is my personality like? Asha is a typical happy puppy. She loves her mom and her brother. Asha is now wagging her tail when her foster mom talks to her. She is starting to learn how to play, but hasn't fully figured it out. . Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also ... (Read More)be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this critera, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right** DOB: 5/18/2014 (Less)

Missing some teeth is all Weight: est 7 lbs Height: est 10' Adoption Fee: $125 Fence needed? No, I like to be carried What kind of home would be best for me? Snoop is looking for someone who will stay home with him most of the time. He gets very attached to people and does not like to be left alone for long periods. What is my personality like? Snoop is your typical 'velcro-dog.' He wants to be with you at all times - he loves the everyone! His temperament is ... (Read More)fantastic, he has a great personality and I think that therapy dog could be in his future if that is one of your interests. He is loving and affectionate. Snoop likes to be picked up and cuddled, and loves to lay in your lap. We are working on his crate training, though he doesn't like it too much. If he is in his crate and sees you, he will whine wanting to get out. If you leave the room, he gets quiet and takes a nap. For the most part snoop gets along with other dogs. He tends to not like dominant male dogs, though really he could not hurt a fly. He would do best as the only dog simply because he wants to soak up ALL of your attention. Snoop had a dental and lost a lot of his teeth. He is able to eat soften kibble with ease, and takes treats like every other dog does. This does not affect him in any way. He is also easily groomed, and will strut his stuff when he comes off of the table! How I act when I first meet new people: Like he has known you forever. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Shelter said 8 but we think closer to 10. I'm not sure that we have ever heard him make a sound. Dylan will eat all of his lunch and dinner, though he is not a big fan of treats. His crate and leash training is coming around wonderfully. Rescue Me ID: 15-06-05-00487Teddy (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Teddy! Breed: Mini poodle Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 05/18/2015 Reason for being in rescue: owner release, not adjusting to move, see below Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Specific home requirements Weight: est 15 Height: est 12 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Teddy is looking for an only dog home (he gets along well with other dogs, but wants to be the only one in your life) with no children. What is my personality like? Teddy was purchased as a puppy from a breeder. For the first 3.5 years of his ... (Read More)life, it was only him and his new mom. He was very well cared for and has had all of the training and vetting that a boy could need! Teddy was a wonderful little companion with absolutely no issues - until moms life took a turn and she had to move in with her family to help out. Teddy went from being the only guy in her life to competing with adults, children and other dogs. He did not adjust well and has not been happy since the move. That is when his mom reached out to us, to place him in a better suited home. This was NOT an easy decision. Teddy started nipping at ankles and children after the move. This is behavior that he had never displayed before. He did not break skin, but did leave marks/bruises a few times. All of the ankle nipping was completely random and unprovoked. In his time here at the farm, he has not shown any of this behavior. CPR staff, and Teddy's previous owner both agree that the environment change threw him off and that he was not happy there. Teddy is ready to be someone's one and only again. Ideally, a single lady who needs a buddy would be his perfect match. He seems to like women much, much more than men. He is fearful of men. Teddy knows a lot of obedience skills and can even jump through hula hoops! He is a very intelligent, sweet dog. My age: 01/10/2011 actual birthdate Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-28-00045Tango of Raleigh (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tango! Breed: standard poodle Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $350 Date into Rescue: 05/18/2015 Reason for being in rescue: owner release, can not handle Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? high prey drive, intense exercise Weight: est 55 lbs needs to be 70 Height: est 27' Fence needed? It is essential and Tango will only go to a home with a large and secure physically fenced in area What kind of home would be best for me? Absolutely no children under 18. No cats. No other dogs . Tango needs a person with a firm understanding of dog behavior, of prey drive, ... (Read More)and of behavior modification using only positive reinforcement. Tango has not had an easy time of life so far and we want to change that but we're totally aware that he is not going to be easy to handle at all. Tango's first owner put a shock collar on him at 18 weeks old. Then they forced this active, happy puppy to go to an office every day and sit. and sit. and sit. Then they put him through an ugly divorce. Undoing that damage is going to take some persistence, dog knowledge and experience. His first and third owner used a prong collar, another forced behavior tool. No more . What is my personality like? With people, he is loving and sweet 95% of the time. At our poodle farm in the first week he has shown no aggression at all towards people. However, in a brief stay in a home recently he mouthed, he charged and was extremely aggressive on several occasions. There were specific triggers - the first was a cat walking by outside. The second was a middle of the night altercation when one owner left the bed and Tango claimed the spot and then would not relinquish it. There were also altercations during walks down hallways. The family who had Tango did not always identify a trigger but we feel that the triggers are there and once they are figured out, his behavior can be changed. Further he flat refuses to go into a crate. He is perfectly house trained so why this is is a mystery but as beneficial as crate training can be, it has apparently been mis used with Tango and so we're not suggesting it. Now for the good stuff. He's absolutely, stunningly beautiful. His coat will make your groomer want to run her hands over him all day. People will stop you in the street to ask where he came form. He loves to catch balls and will chase and fetch and entertain himself quite happily. They don't always come back to you but that can be trained. Tango loves to jump and will jump straight up 4 feet. He needs muscle tone and exercise desperately and when he gets that and some teaching, he should be ready to take on whatever challenge you want to do . Hiking, agility, nosework...Tango has the spirit, the drive and the intelligence to do it all. But first he has to make up his mind that he wants to and you will never convince him to do so using coercion or any type of force. He's done with that. In the right hands, this beautiful dog will be a fabulous, if somewhat challenging, addition to the family. He is not easy and he is not for everyone but we are convinced that somewhere out there, his perfect owner will find him. How I act when I first meet new people: He is a little tentative at first but warms up quickly. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: 04/01/2013 actual birthdate Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.     Meet Midori! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $250 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, demodex mange and bonded with Colby Weight: Est 12-15 lb Height: Est 8 Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 little ... (Read More)souls all together - most of them under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic AND demodex mange. On every single one of them. What is my personality like? Midori has come a very long way! He is still shy but will thrive in the right environment. He must have another dog in his home as he has never been alone. His best friend and brother is Colby, who he has been with since day one. They are now inseparable. Midori gets along with dogs wonderfully! He is very cautious of us humans, but will let you hold him and pet him with ease. He is young and spunky! With a little patience and a lot of love, Midori will become a wonderful companion. Age: est 1 year Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-15-00035Jude (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jude! Breed: poodle mix Gender: male Adoption fee: $75 Date into Rescue: 9/11/14 Reason for being in rescue: Found as stray in Columbia SC Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est ' 12 Height: Est '11 Birthdate - when Jude first came in, we were told by the shelter he came from that he was around 5 which would make his birthday around September of 2009 - but this is only a guess after getting to know him, the new guess is more like September of 2002. He's definitely an oldie but a goodie What is my personality like? This loving lad is super fluffy! He was found as a stray and brought into a ... (Read More)Columbia shelter. He's very calm, sweet, polite, innocent, well-mannered, loving, and friendly. He loves to be held, caressed, and comforted. He also likes to snuggle and cuddle. Jude is friendly with everyone he meets, two and four legged. He has wonderful manners and would be a great addition to someones family. Jude is older but still has spunk! He is mostly laid back but does like to get up and romp around each day. He still goes outside with all of the young dogs and keeps up with them with ease. His vision is a little less than perfect but he sees well enough to get around with no problems. He is gentle and loving - and very deserving of spending his last years with a forever loving family. How I act when I first meet new people: Polite and well mannered. Jude loves to wag his little nub and make his whole body shake along with it. He's pleasant and happy and gets along well with dogs and people. Jude follows the routine easily, enjoys sunning himself and could care less about toys but a treat sent his way is much appreciated and he is very polite in the taking. Jude has some health problems. He has a fatty tumor on his belly which you can feel when you pick him up. He has some skin issues and occasionally gets a cortisone shot to help. He has a mature cataract in one eye and a heart murmur. Hey, it's the age thing guys. We all fall apart as we get older and dogs are no exception. Don't be intimidated by that laundry list of problems. Jude has a lot of love to give and a lot of life to live and we hope to provide that for this sweetheart of an old man. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-15-00030Finn (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Finn! Breed: miniature poodle Gender: male Adoption Fee: $169 Date into Rescue: 03/26/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Owner turn in to local shelter/can't take care of Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est '15 lbs Height: Est '12 at the shoulder What is my personality like? Happy, affectionate and eager to please Who I am seeking: A poodle owner who knows how happy we can be How I act when I first meet new people: Loving. Sometimes too loving. Finn has a habit of grabbing your leg with his paws and pulling himself close for a quick hump. He only does this when he is very ... (Read More)excited and hasn't seen you in a while. It's affection for him and it's behavior that is easily corrected and changed to a happy sit down on the couch. He's simply thrilled to see you again. Finn has quite a story. A distraught owner showed up at a no kill adoption center with her two poodles claiming she could no longer afford the two dogs. One was very sick and one was not. The adoption center tried to convince the owner to take the dog who was ill to the vet and let them find a home for the healthy dog but this upset her even more and she threatened to leave and take the dogs to animal control. The operations manager at the adoption center is a quick thinker and while his staff was trying to calm the owner, he had his partners here at the poodle rescue on the phone as we have worked together many times. A transport was quickly arranged and the healthy poodle came to the farm while the sick poodle went straight to the emergency clinic. 48 hours later, Finn was still very sick but every test we could figure out showed he was healthy yes his temperature was low and he was lethargic and would not eat or drink on his own. The only thing left to try was exploratory surgery - so we explored. And found the sock that Finn had apparently tried to eat. A diabetic type sock with lots of synthetic materials in it. From the moment the sock came out, Finn got better and better and better. He's also never tried to eat anything since that wasn't put for him in his bowl so I have no idea why this sock was so appealing. Did the wearer perhaps step on some food and it tasted yummy? We will never know. For Finn, he is the happiest guy and a very loving, affectionate poodle (may be part bichon) who simply loves the world. He's a stocky kind of guy who enjoys the company of other dogs very much but doesn't have to have them. He could go as an only dog or as a member of a group. He has been in a home and been loved. He would be a good first time dog since he knows what's expected. His house training has been pretty good for a dog now in a group home and he is clean and happy in his crate. Finn is a bit shy about cameras. He would not look at me directly. Age: estimated 7 years old, best guess birthdate is 3/26/2008 Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess.     Meet Emma! Breed: Toy Poodle Gender: female Adoption Fee: $225 Date into Rescue: 03/29/2014 Reason for being in rescue: Puppy mill seizure Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? extreme fear and shyness, will need a patient owner Weight: est 5 lbs Height: about 6' at the shoulder What is my personality like? In her home where she knows and trusts people, she is happy and affectionate especially to her foster dad. She sleeps snuggled up right under his chin at night. Emma loves other dogs and must have another dog in her home. She is still mostly feral with the people she does not trust and that is a ... (Read More)long list. Emma is a project. She will eventually bond to another person or family but she needs a very experienced owner with a lot of time and patience. How I act when I first meet new people: Very shy, runs in fear at first. It will take Emma about a month to show her true personality and only if she likes you Who I am seeking: Emma seems drawn to men. Her favorite person in the whole world is her foster dad, also known as Wayne, the Dogfather. Wayne is a bit of a dog whisperer to dogs and Emma follows him around as if he is the one who hung the sun, moon and stars. For her foster mom, she is now fairly tolerant but it took a lot of time on her part. For others who visit, it's run upstairs and under the bed. Emma will never be a social butterfly. She will never be a therapy dog. Her best bet is to be able to live with someone who has a heart for little silver toy poodles and a securely fenced in yard, patience and tolerance and a big bed to snuggle in. She has much love to give if you are willing to break through the fear. For potty, Emma has been taught to use pee pads. She is tiny and her foster parents don't trust her outside as they live in the country and have large hawks. She can be happy playing in the carport with her buddies which is completely covered and therefore safe from predators. Emma does not know how to walk on a leash. She needs help learning this skill also. 4 foot secure fenced area required!!!!! Age: Best guess is approximately 6 to 7 years old, we've guestimated her birthdate at 3/30/2008 We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-26-00508Annabelle with Halibut (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Annabelle! Breed: Standard Poodle mixed with Great Pyrenees Gender: Female Date into Rescue: 12/3/2014 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, could not care for Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Separation anxiety, cannot be crated Weight: Est 60 lbs, needs to gain a lot Height: Est 24' Age: Birthdate is estimated to be December 2009 What is my personality like? Annabelle is a love bug. She is so sweet and friendly, although nervous and over food the worst of her personality comes out. Who I am seeking: Annabelle needs an only dog home but for only one reason - you must feed Annabelle ... (Read More)separately. She's very food aggressive with other dogs. If you can and will control the dogs during feeding, for instance putting them in separate rooms or put the other dog(s) into their own personal spaces, you are fine. You can't even fix food around Annabelle and other dogs. Humans can do anything they please with her food, treats and bowl but not another dog. No no keep your paws and your muzzle to yourself. It may have something to do with her being about 2/3 of her normal body weight when she came to us. Never knowing if your going to get a next meal or when isn't a confidence builder. Annabelle has been passed around several times in her life and we are committed to finding her very last and forever home. In the meantime, she is both virtually adoptable as we help her work through many medical problems. We're all still hoping one day the perfect home will come for Annabelle. Annabelle knows how to sit, and loves to work for treats. Annabelle has been xrayed and has been confirmed with hip dysplasia but you would be hard pressed to tell when you see her playing in the fields. She runs with the best of them. However, because of the hips a home without stairs would be her best bet. Annabelle is heart worm positive. She is on what is called slow kill which is simply her monthly heartworm preventative. It must be an ivermectin based product (Triheart, Heartguard or Iverhart Max). We're hoping that she will test negative in the next year. Annabelle has a BFF named Halibut that she has bonded to and he has been a huge confidence builder for her Our best case scenario? That someone sees that two dogs are not more trouble than one even if they are both special needs. Halibut and Annabelle share everything except food and who knows, maybe one day Annabelle will even be willing to do that. They play and romp and keep each other company, Both most likely have shortened lives than other dogs so since they've already found each other, perhaps they can both find a place in your heart. We'd love to see them go together How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-21-00037Spanky of Anderson (male)

Poodle    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Spanky! Breed: miniature poodle Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $75 We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. You never know which dog will walk right into your heart when you meet them. Date into Rescue: 10/30/2014 Reason for being in rescue: owner release to an upstate SC shelter, can't take care of Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none Weight: est 16 lbs Height: est 12 ' Why am I up for adoption - Spanky needs to start a new life .The one he had can't take care of him anymore What is my personality like? Spanky is exceptionally friendly and ... (Read More)happy all the time How I act when I first meet new people: friendly My age: birthdate estimated to be 10/11/2005 Spanky will never win a beauty contest. He's got wiry hair and pretty much always looks like he just got out of bed. He doesn't shed but he also isn't curly like a poodle should be. He has some dry eye issues and we use artifical tears to keep his eyes from becoming red rimmed. When we first got Spanky he looked like he was hung over all the time from his eyes not being treated and he had lost all the hair around his eyes. That's gone now and he's a new boy in that area. He is okay on his house training. He hates a crate and insists on sleeping in his foster mom's room, curled on a dog bed next to her. He gets along very well with other dogs large and small and I don't think he's met a human he didn't like. If Spanky were a guy, he would be on the cast of The Big Bang theory. He's so serious all the time it makes him funny too. He is bright and curious, always ready to take on a new role in life and yet there is a goofiness about him that makes you want to laugh when you see him. All Spanky really asks is to be in the same room with you, part of you life and never shut out. He's a low maintenance kind of guy with room in his heart for many different types of families. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-12-00671Beau (male)

Poodle    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Beau (Bobo)! Breed: Toy Poodle Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $250 Date into Rescue: 2/11/2015 Reason for being in rescue: See story below Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes: Must have fenced in yard, a lot of experience, at least one other dog, no children, see below for more details Weight: 7 lbs Height: 10.5' at the shoulders What is my personality like? (Written by foster mom) Beau was purchased by some folks who thought they were 'rescuing' a dog. Come to find out, it seems as though Beau was originally a puppy mill type dog that was just being sold for money. The folks who took him home, ... (Read More)did so mostly because they felt sorry for him when they saw him. They let him out in their fenced in back yard, and were unable to catch him for almost 6 days. That is when they called CPR to help. After chasing him and trying to reason with him for 2.5 hours, I finally got my hands on him. From that moment forward I knew I would need to foster him because there was a small chance he would rehab in a kennel environment. It took over a week for me to be able to put my hands on him with him being willing. He trailed a leash for 2 full weeks. UPDATE: Beau is an absolute awesome dog! He is 98% house trained. I say this because he will NOT use the bathroom in the house, however he does not know how to 'ask' to go outside. So if he is unattended and has to go, he will. He has had less than 5 accidents in the almost 3 months that he has been fostered. He is completely leash and crate trained, and travels wonderfully. He has been on several trips and did great! Beau gets along perfectly with all animals, he adores both cats and dogs. He has really bonded with one of my larger dogs and with my miniature poodle - he is, of course, the runt of the group! He likes male dogs and female dogs, any breed any size any temperament. His playful side and voice has finally came out. He will bark at strange noises, or new people who enter the home. He has become much more active and loves to play! Beau mostly plays by himself, with a toy or just simply doing poodle-zoomies around the house or in the yard. He loves the fenced in yard outside and as long as I am out there with him, he will romp and play for a while. I recently discovered his love for water. He is a true lake dog! He took his first plunge and swam like a pro. Beau rides great on a pontoon - and in fact, loves soaking up the sun rays. He is a very adventurous guy. From my experience, it seems as though Beau is a one-person dog. He is going to bond with someone, and likely not anyone else, or at least not for a long time. He still shakes like a leaf when anyone but me holds him. He has come a really, really long way. At this time he will follow me off lead - anywhere that I go. He is a great dog! At first I had him listed to be adopted by someone who stayed at home or worked part-time. I have now changed this - I have been leaving him at home for about 6 hours a day 5 days a week and he does just fine, as long as he has a buddy. Who I am seeking: Very experienced, fenced in yard, at least one other dog any size or breed, a lot of patience, Age: 3 years old, DOB is 12/10/2011 Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Poodle    Age: Senior

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Prncess! Breed: toy poodle Gender: Female Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 7/31/2011 yes Princess has been here a long time but there's a reason. keep reading for more on her story Reason for being in rescue: released by a breeder to a shelter, shelter reached out to CPR Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes - cataract in one eye inoperable, is blind, corrected cataract in second eye Weight: Est ' 11 lbs Height: Est '10 at the shoulder What is my personality like? sweet and affectionate once she gets to know you Who I am seeking: a home where I can be the #1 princess but I sure ... (Read More)would like a sister to play with Age: birthdate estimated to be 7/31/2005 and that is a guess based on the cataract surgeon's assessment. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! What a story this one has been. Princess arrived at our farm in the summer of 2011. She was dirty, scared and shy and it was difficult to get close to her. We at least got her a bath and that was when it was discovered that she was not just fluffy but she was also chubby for another reason. Princess was pregnant. Two puppies later (8 weeks to grow them and 8 more weeks to raise them), it is well into 2014 and Princess has settled into life with me as her foster mom. As the director of CPR, very challenging cases often come home with me. Changing a dog from back yard breeder mom to pampered princess isn't a fast or easy process. Add to it the growing cataracts in her eyes, and my own commitment to getting those cataracts fixed definitely slowed down the possible adoption process. CPR is still growing and I am still learning how to find the resources necessary to fix what is wrong and make them whole. For the last several years, Princess had settled into a routine with me and had been accepted into my family as one of our own. She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned, was brought up to date on routine shots and she learned that being groomed isn't such a bad thing. Visitors are now welcomed and barked at to encourage the picking up process. She sleeps in the bed with us - on her back with all four feet in the air. I think she's pretty spoiled. Earlier this year, thanks to the generosity of others, I was able to give Princess the gift I had been waiting to give her for a long time. At this point she was totally blind. While I wish I could say we restored her sight totally, sadly it was too late for her left as the retina had detached. Her right was fixable and we did it. She has one more follow up and there is some concern as there is some debris in the eye. It's not making her blind but she isn't as perfect as I would like - however it's a start and she now has vision. So why after almost 4 years with my family would I finally put Princess up for adoption? She's treated just as if she is mine and for all this time she has been mine. I love hear dearly and if she never places, I'm okay with that too but I know that Princess wants something better. Princess wants to be the princess of someone's heart and my heart is already taken . With me, she is one of many, never the #1 girl and she never will be. That spot already belongs to another. Somewhere out there I know she can be someone's #1 girl. I want that for her - to be not the princess waiting for her place but the queen - the queen of someone's heart. Princess does not show well. If you decide to come to meet Princess bear in mind she will spend most of her time looking at the door, wondering where I am. I have been her security and her rock for many years now and the times before her life here were not good times. She doesn't understand there is so much better. I think she will learn if someone takes the time it will take her to be taught. I don't know how long that will be. For the first transition, it was months but now she knows people are cool. I hope it will be only weeks. Princess rides well in a car and has no idea what a leash is. She's a wild farm child, running like the wind through our pastures and hills. She's never lived in a town and will need to be taught how to walk like a lady on a leash to go to parks and stores but I think she can learn. She is trained to use a potty pad for her bathroom needs. She eats very well loves to play with other dogs. She needs a buddy. So if you are out there - someone with a heart for rescue and a lap that is empty and a poodle who needs a BFF - come talk to me. Let's see if this princess I found under all that dirt and fear actually belongs to you. I've tried to take good care of her for you. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. (Less)

No Weight: Est 25 lbs Height: Est 13' What is my personality like? Betsy is a very unique, special little girl. When she came to us, we could tell she had limited vision, and not to mention a loss of hair on her back. Despite all of these changes, her tail never stopped wagging. She has been the most gentle, sweet and perfect resident at CPR. Betsy is fully crate trained, loving to everyone, and friendly with ... (Read More)all of the other dogs. She knows exactly where the door is to go outside, and where her crate is when she comes back in. She really is the sweetest dog you will ever meet!!!! Betsy just went to the vet last week to get a good grasp on her eyes and skin condition. We found out that Betsy does have a heart murmer (grade 3 out of 5), and is now on some medication to help control her heart. She is blind in her left eye, and limited in her right. Her skin is due to poor nutrition prior to coming to CPR and is improving every day. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-13-00523Sidney (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sidney! Breed: Maltese Gender: female Adoption Fee: $ I'm special Date into Rescue: 02/2/2012 Reason for being in rescue: Read description Foster location: Charlotte, NC Special Needs? YES - Read below Weight: Est 12 lbs Height: Est 11' What is my personality like? The West Tennessee Drug Task Force pulled over a U-Haul towing a minivan on I-40 near mile marker 42 around 11:00am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Instead of finding drugs, they found 141 dogs and 1 cat in the minivan and cargo area of the U-Haul without food or water. Members of the Fayette County Animal Rescue were called to the scene, and ... (Read More)determined that the dogs were 'being held in conditions that violate Tennessee law.' According to reports at the scene, the animals were tied into cages with zip ties, appeared underweight, and their fur was matted with their own waste. Several animals were not caged, running loose in the U-Haul cargo space. The animals had been on the road since Saturday. This is where Sidney came from. This is the only information of her past that is known, and it is obviously not a positive piece of her history. Sidney's behavior more than reflects a trouble past and it will take a very special person to adopt her. Sidney can be the most wonderful, sweet and loving dog that you have ever met. She will follow you off leash, ride well in your car and keep her crate clean for a few hours at a time. Sidney will ONLY bond with a female, and this is not debatable. She must be adopted to a home who has females living in it only. She will run up to a male (and some women, too) and nip at their ankles, while constantly barking and growling. If she is spooked enough, she will bite and make contact. She is not going to bond with ANYONE immediately, it is going to take some time. Sidney has bitten several people in her time here, but never anyone that she trusts. If you can gain Sid's trust, you will have an awesome little shadow dog. There is a video of her meeting a male and him luring her with treats - when the treats were all gone, she proceeded to bark, growl and back away from him. Her house training is quite frankly pretty terrible. She WILL use the bathroom outside if you keep her on a very strict routine and take her out multiple times a day. If you turn your head, however, and she has to go... she will! Sidney walks perfectly on a leash and even better off leash (in a safe fenced in environment only). Once she bonds with you, she thinks you are the ruler of the world and will give you her entire heart. Sidney is familiar with being in a home as she was adopted once before and it did not work out, through no fault of her own. She knows what it's like to curl up on a nice cozy bed, or in her favorite spot on the couch. She likes to be in a home. Sid gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would be a great companion to your current pet. She would also be fine as an only dog, as she would love to absorb all of the attention, all the time. Sidney does not know any commands but is an intelligent girl who could learn with some training. Who I am seeking: A very, very experienced, patient female. You must be committed to taking things very slow and giving her a minimum of 30 days to get to know you. Absolutely no children in Sidney's life - no exceptions. Age: est 6 years Please note - we will not place Sidney in a home with children under 16. Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-23-00162Colby with Midori (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Colby! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: male Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, Demodex mange, bonded pair with Midori Weight: Est 12-15 lb Height: Est 9' Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 ... (Read More)little souls all together - most of them under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic mange on every single one of them - and some have demodex mange. Colby is one with demodex. He will need a lifetime of care for this condition but it is not contagious to other dogs or to humans. Revolution works well as a treatment and since all dogs need heartworm and flea/tick preventative anyway, Revolution is the way to go. Colby is sweet and shy - we have done about as much rehab as we can do here, now all he needs is for someone to love him. Colby would do best with a family who already has atleast one other dog - as he is very shy and opens up with other dogs. He has always been surrounded by them and would really thrive much quicker with a sibling! Colby is crate trained though not leash trained or fully house trained yet. He needs someone to teach him these things! Colby is bonded to his brother Midori. Colby has been diagnosed with Demodex mange, and will be on an oral medication potentially for the rest of his life. Demodex is triggered by stress (is also genetic) so there is a chance that in the future, he can come off of his medication. He takes it very well now and the medication is affordable. Who I am seeking: Someone who will love me and my brother. Age: est 1 year 6 months Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! (Less)
