Sassy does great with her crate training, and actually enjoys being in it. We are not sure about her house training. Sassy would fit in to a lot of different home environments. She does need someone who is not gone for 40 hours a week, as she likes human company and does not want to be left along for extended periods. She has a lot of personality and is very intelligent - she will learn quickly. When Sassy came to us her skin was in the most horrible condition. We found out that she has food allergies and ever since being put on a grain free diet - her hair/skin has begun to heal tremendously. She must always remain on this diet! Yes, yes, yes very active What kind of home would be best for me? An experienced standard poodle owner who also has knowledge of the special needs of seizure dogs What is my personality like? ... (Read More) Sampson is sweet, active, affectionate and very, very intelligent. He truly is the full package! Sampson must be adopted by someone who allows him a lot of outside 'play time' as he is super playful and active. He loves to run and run and run some more. Sampson would thrive best in a home with another dog his size, he just loves playing all day. He has excellent indoor manners, and knows some basic commands. He is very smart and will learn anything that you teach him and work with him on. Sampson has had only two very small petite-mal seizures since November. He is on a daily medication and it really controls the epilepsy. Sampson will steal your heart, he is the goofiest, happiest boy! How I act when I first meet new people: Very friendly. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

2/16/15 This dog needs to be re-homed immediately, before my husband makes me take to shelter. He is very protective of our 10 year old son and has snapped recently at our 3 year old daughter. Therefore he would need to go to someone that does not have kids. He does fine with other animals (really not interested, other than typical play and chasing). He is house trained, but does not like to be crated.

Poodle    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Please contact Debi for more information about this pet. All about me! Name: Nelly of Sanford Breed: toy poodle Age: 7-8years Height: est 7' inches Weight: 7.2 lbs Good with dogs? yes Good with men? loves 'em Good with women? loves 'em House trained? yes, appears to be Crate trained? yes Leash trained? yes, but why not carry me, I am so little Must have fenced in yard? no Foster home is: Debi in Sanford Date into rescue: 1/1/2015 UPDATE 1/1/2015: Unfortunately, life happens. I was adopted and living the good life-great family, great food and care, then my new mom's health went downhill and she could no longer care for ... (Read More)me so I am back with my foster mom. I am doing really well, my other mom got me a really good dental, and I have beautiful teeth. I love to be with you, go for rides in the car and yes, I do like to go for a walk. If you will let me, I will sleep in the bed with you and snuggle anytime. I am a very happy girl who never meets a stranger. Got room for me in your heart and home, then I am ready to meet you! UPDATE AS OF 2/10/2014: WOW! Look at me now! My hair is all back, I had my cataract surgery on January 27th and I can see! It is fantastic--I watch my foster mom when she is fixing my breakfast and dinner, I can see toys on the floor, I run right to my foster mom when she calls-Sight is a wonderful thing--I am such a happy little girl and will be ready for my forever home the end of February! Hooray! Why am I with a rescue group? My family was facing some real financial challenges and could not afford my care so they contacted these nice folks who took me in. I am a very sweet, loving little girl who needs some urgent medical attention. I have an allergic dermatitis that progressed to a skin infection that has resulted in loss of hair on my body (see my pictures above). I am on antibiotics and medicated baths, 3 times per week and that will now get better--over time. What is really urgent is that I have 3 separate mammary tumors on my tiny abdomen that, because of where they are located, require separate incisions to remove . This is critical because the tumors have blisters on them. They say I must have surgery immediately---the cost is estimated to be $1050. Can you please help so that I can heal and then look for a new forever home? Please go to our webpage and donate, don't forget to say it is for Nelly! How I act when I first meet new people: a little shy, but warms up quickly Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-13-00523Sidney (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sidney! Breed: Maltese Gender: female Adoption Fee: $ I'm special Date into Rescue: 02/2/2012 Reason for being in rescue: Read description Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? YES - Read below Weight: Est 12 lbs Height: Est 11' What is my personality like? The West Tennessee Drug Task Force pulled over a U-Haul towing a minivan on I-40 near mile marker 42 around 11:00am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Instead of finding drugs, they found 141 dogs and 1 cat in the minivan and cargo area of the U-Haul without food or water. Members of the Fayette County Animal Rescue were called to the ... (Read More)scene, and determined that the dogs were 'being held in conditions that violate Tennessee law.' According to reports at the scene, the animals were tied into cages with zip ties, appeared underweight, and their fur was matted with their own waste. Several animals were not caged, running loose in the U-Haul cargo space. The animals had been on the road since Saturday. This is where Sidney came from. This is the only information of her past that is known, and it is obviously not a positive piece of her history. Sidney's behavior more than reflects a trouble past and it will take a very special person to adopt her. Sidney can be the most wonderful, sweet and loving dog that you have ever met. She will follow you off leash, ride well in your car and keep her crate clean for a few hours at a time. Sidney will ONLY bond with a female, and this is not debatable. She must be adopted to a home who has females living in it only. She will run up to a male (and some women, too) and nip at their ankles, while constantly barking and growling. If she is spooked enough, she will bite and make contact. She is not going to bond with ANYONE immediately, it is going to take some time. Sidney has bitten several people in her time here, but never anyone that she trusts. If you can gain Sid's trust, you will have an awesome little shadow dog. There is a video of her meeting a male and him luring her with treats - when the treats were all gone, she proceeded to bark, growl and back away from him. Her house training is quite frankly pretty terrible. She WILL use the bathroom outside if you keep her on a very strict routine and take her out multiple times a day. If you turn your head, however, and she has to go... she will! Sidney walks perfectly on a leash and even better off leash (in a safe fenced in environment only). Once she bonds with you, she thinks you are the ruler of the world and will give you her entire heart. Sidney is familiar with being in a home as she was adopted once before and it did not work out, through no fault of her own. She knows what it's like to curl up on a nice cozy bed, or in her favorite spot on the couch. She likes to be in a home. Sid gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would be a great companion to your current pet. She would also be fine as an only dog, as she would love to absorb all of the attention, all the time. Sidney does not know any commands but is an intelligent girl who could learn with some training. Who I am seeking: A very, very experienced, patient female. You must be committed to taking things very slow and giving her a minimum of 30 days to get to know you. Absolutely no children in Sidney's life - no exceptions. Age: est 6 years Please note - we will not place Sidney in a home with children under 16. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.     All about me! Name: Goldie Breed: mini poodle Age: est 7 years Height: est 11 inches Weight: about 11 lbs Good with dogs? yes Good with men? loves 'em Good with women? loves 'em House trained? yes Crate trained? yes (I do not like them) Leash trained? yes Must have fenced in yard? no Foster home is: Debi in Sanford, NC Adoption fee: $225.00 Date into rescue: 1/3/2014 Why am I with a rescue group? UPDATE 1/3/2015: Wow! Life can certainly throw you a curve and everything changes. I thought I had found my forever home but unfortunately, her lifestyle changed and instead of being home, most of the time, she is traveling. I ... (Read More)do have some separation anxiety, I have been miserable by myself or even with her friends. She decided that her lifestyle and I don't match any more so here I am. I am a beautiful, miniature poodle who has a lot of love to give. I do not like to be alone and just want to be with my human! I am house trained, leash trained, crate trained (but I do not like it!), know how to 'sit' and am working on 'stay'. If you are someone who is home most of the time then I am your 'snuggle bunny'. I also love to sleep on your bed!. Does this sound like your home? If so, please go to our webpage and apply! UPDATE 12/12/2013: Look at my new pictures! My hair has grown in and I am beautiful!. I really would like to have a new forever home for Christmas! They discovered that I have what are called 'partial motor seizures' These are a result of the stress from the bladder infections. Since I have been on my medicine- (about $10/month) I have been just great! I take my medicine once a day. I will sit and wait for you to give it to me because I know I get a treat after I take it. I love to go in the car wherever you are going, walks are wonderful (there is so much to see). If you need a snuggle bunny, I am your girl! If there is someone home most of the day, please go to our web page and apply! See you soon! I was originally adopted from the shelter as a puppy, but sadly, things change and when they could no longer care for me, they returned me to the shelter (6 years later). I was not feeling well, so the shelter called CPR for help. I had bladder stones (per my doctor), as a result of untreated, repeated bladder infections. They removed the stones and I was also very matted, so they shaved my hair. I am really feeling much, much better! They say I am just a beautiful color and my eyes are a copper color. I am house trained, crate trained, and I love everyone I meet--I am really a very social girl! I will follow you all over the house and when you sit down, I love to be in your lap. If you are looking for a real snuggler, then I am your girl! My ideal home is one where someone is home for most of the day. I hope you will complete an application and we can meet very soon! How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly Please note - we do not ship dogs. Date into Rescue: 10/18/2014 Reason for being in rescue: found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none Weight: est 12 Height: est 12 Thank you Ann A for sponsoring me! Why am I up for adoption - Tiger was found as a stray in mid Tennessee What is my personality like? friendly and busy happy guy How I act when I first meet new ... (Read More)people: friendly My age: The shelter said 3 - we're thinking closer to 10 Tiger is so happy. He went to New York recently with our staff and had a great time meeting and greeting new people. He is a lot older than the shelter originally told us so we're thinking he would be best in a home that is quieter than the busy environment we were in there but he hung in there with the youngsters. Tiger gets along well with the dogs in his foster home. He prefers to sleep on a dog bed in the kitchen and usually gets up at least once to tinkle on the pee pad left out for him. He would probably like to snuggle with you. At one time he was a once loved little boy and even though he's a little white around the muzzle now, he'd love to be that special little boy again. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-23-00162Colby (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Colby! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: male Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 10 lbs Height: Est 9' Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 little souls all together - most of them ... (Read More)under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic mange on every single one of them - and some have demodex mange. Colby is one with demodex. He will need a lifetime of care for this condition but it is not contagious to other dogs or to humans. Revolution works well as a treatment and since all dogs need heartworm and flea/tick preventative anyway, Revolution is the way to go. What is my personality like? Colby is now fully vetted and on the search for his forever home. He is a little shy at first and definitely needs to be adopted to someone who has at least one other dog. He loves other animals and would thrive best in a home where he could learn from an older brother or sister. Colby is a real sweet heart! Who I am seeking: Someone who will love me Age: est 1 year 6 months Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. Life can throw a curve sometimes and that is what happened to us. It was just my mom and I for 8 years and then a merger happened and my mom lost her job. ... (Read More)She found another one, but it just doesn't pay enough for my medicine and blood tests--see I am an epileptic. My medicine is not real expensive (about $35/month), but every once in awhile I have to have blood tests done to check the level of my medicine. This blood test makes sure that my dosage is correct. Add that to grooming, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, annual physicals, etc. and it was just too much for mom. She did not want me to miss having proper care so she contacted these great folks at CPR and here I am. I am a very happy and loving little girl. I love car rides, sun bathing on the deck, snuggling in your lap and sleeping in the bed with you. I am really good at letting you know when I need to go out to potty, food is a favorite (especially cheese), and I get along really well with my foster brothers and sisters. My tail wags most of the time--oh I also know my name and will come when you call me. Pleasenpo young children as I may Right now I need some sponsors to help pay for my care--can you help? No Weight: Est ' 45 lbs Height: Est '24 What is my personality like? Aristotle is an active, but very friendly and sweet guy! He is affectionate, and really loves your attention. He will fetch a tennis ball for as long as you will stand out and throw it for him. He is playful and likes other dogs. Aristotle would make an excellent hiking or jogging partner - and really ... (Read More)needs a family who is active! He has a lot of energy, but hey, he is a puppy! He knows sit and is eager to learn other commands, he is also food motivated which will make the training process a lot easier. Aristotle would be fine as an only dog - or as a sibling to your current pet. He would probably be 'too much' for an older dog or a small dog, as he really likes play time. Who I am seeking: Age: est 11 months old Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Rescue Me ID: 14-10-18-00454Sherlock (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sherlock! Breed: OES/Poodle Gender: male Adoption Fee: $350 Date into Rescue: 7/31/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? YES -Behavior Weight: Est 50 lbs Height: Est 25 ' What is my personality like? Because of Sherlocks' history of shock-collar training, he has unfortunately developed some bad, and quite frankly, sad, habits. After being assessed by a trainer, we believe it will take several months, possibly years to undo the damage that has been done to this guy. He is very strong on a leash but will walk alongside you, especially when he is ... (Read More)wearing a harness. Commands he knows: sit, wait (stay), up (stand up from laying down), down (to lay down), leave-it (walk away from whatever it is he's smelling, eating, doing etc.), kennel (go to his kennel), heel, here (his recall/come). There are a few other commands that he knew like 'place' and 'look sharp' but the previous owner did not reinforce these commands. Sherlock does have some resource guarding tendencies, especially inside of his crate over his food bowl. Also, according to what his previous owner witnessed with him, he does not like to be approached while he is lying down. He will growl, show teeth and or bite. We have not seen this at the farm, however farm-life and home-life are two different things, and he may resort to this behavior again once he is back in a home. Also according to his behavior with his previous owner, he could not be bathed or groomed without a muzzle. We were able to do both without a muzzle here, but again he is out of his comfort zone, and sometimes dog's do not show their 'true nature' until they are comfortable. On a positive note, Sherlock is a happy, affectionate dog. There is much more to him than some bad habits, he loves attention. Sherlock is house and crate trained, and is VERY well mannered indoors. He really is a sweet dog who could make someone a wonderful companion, if you are willing to put in a little time and effort. Who I am seeking: Sherlock must be adopted by someone who is a very experienced dog-owner. Preferably someone who has experience with the breed and with the behaviors that we are describing. He must be an only dog - other animals overwhelm him and spark some of these bad habits of his. Age: est 5 years old Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them!
