Rescue Me ID: 16-07-22-00532Izzy (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Izzy has been a good healthy dog most of her life. The one exception is the deformed front feet that she has had since birth. Her physical issues prevented her from being sold by the breeder. Izzy was rescued by us before she could be euthanized. Despite her deformed feet, Izzy has led a very normal life and still has a lot of energy, even for a dog of her age. She can still easily jump into the back of our van when we 'go for a ride' and loves travelling in the van. She does have some anxiety issues, however, they are easily controlled by a small daily dose of Fluoxitine. Overall, she is still in very good health.

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-22-00529Sandy (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

NOTES: May have food allergies; dog buddies should be calm and respectful; children should be 8 years or older. Salutations; my name is Sandy. My previous family fell on some hard times so they brought me to Washington County Humane Society (WCHS) to find a new home. As an 8 year old I am a little nervous about needing a new home but I know brighter days are in my future. I am a quiet, calm and gentle girl and may be initially shy but once I warm to you I promise to be a loyal companion for life. The fur on my coat is a bit thin and that could be a sign of allergies so I would do best on a high quality diet. However I have beautiful ... (Read More)velveteen ears, soulful hazel eyes and at about 71 pounds I have kept my girlish figure. I also have wisps of white fur along my back that looks like a dainty frosting. It is my inner beauty that is absolutely stunning and exquisite. I am good and tolerant with other dogs, but prefer calm respectful dogs because I am a mature and classy gal. I am good with cats too because I am polite enough to sniff them but am respectful, tolerant and soft with them. Since loud noises and fast movements make me nervous, any children in my new home should by 8 years or older. I am good with handling but hugs make me a little anxious. So you can pet me and scratch me and love me in general but I'd prefer not to be hugged; it just seems a little confining. I have excellent manners with my food bowl and other valuable resources. And I can show you how gently I take treats if you ask me to sit or come when called. I do have a venturesome side to me and will run if I am let off-leash; especially if I see a chipmunk or squirrel. I would like to go on long walks and adventures with you because I do enjoy daily exercise. Car rides make me a little nervous and I sort of pant and whine so I would prefer calm short rides to help me understand they can be fun and nothing to worry about. I am housebroken and will let you know when I need to go out but I should be confined to a small area when left alone because I may have an accident if allowed to roam free. If I think I need to guard the whole house it seems like an awesome responsibility, I get nervous and then I have to pee. I am an intelligent, affectionate and friendly girl. Although I love to lie next to you I can also be independent so I am not clingy. I am so looking forward to a calm home where I can blossom and spend my golden years. I encourage you to meet me in person; I think you will find it easy to fall in love with me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-05-00655Raymond the Miracle (male)

Poodle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Raymond was picked up by animal control in Raymond, WI on 3/1. The poor guy was a matted mess, frozen, and scared to death. His immediate medical and grooming needs were met and he settled in for a 10 day hold, but his previous owners never showed up. His complete vetting has included vaccinations, neuter, removal of a small tumor, removal of rotten teeth (all were bad and there was a severe abscess), treatment for skin infection and a UTI! Two months later, he is practically a different dog! Raymond is guessed to be about 9 yrs old. He is gentle and gets along great with other dogs and people. He doesn't play with toys, but enjoys observing ... (Read More)others play. He walks nicely on leash and sits quietly in the car. He's not particularly cuddly and prefers his dog bed. He will join me on the couch for just a few minutes, then hops down. Without getting underfoot, he often joins me in whichever room I go to. Unfortunately, we have not been able to completely stop his leg lifting habit. He potties outside, but out of habit raises his leg occasionally, therefore, we keep him in a belly band. For his itchy skin health, he is on a grain free diet. Dry kibbles are his favorite. He rarely barks. DO NOT apply to adopt Raymond if you are looking for a very interactive dog who likes to snuggle and play. PLEASE DO apply for Raymond if you are looking for a pleasant and somewhat independent dog who deserves a secure home. Please DO consider him if you are willing to watch for minor health issues like itchy skin and you consider his belly band a minor inconvenience. His adoption fee, $250, will go toward his vetting bill. Raymond is fostering in Libertyville, IL. Please contact Sara at (847) 207-8233 or email sara.stewart889@mail.com. (Less)

lnteresting Poodle Trivia Low-Cost Wisconsin Spay & Neuter Clinics
Poodles appear in art from ancient Rome. The name Poodle comes from a German word describing someone who likes the water. Poodles are widely considered to be French, but there is debate over whether they may have originated in Germany or Denmark.
